| There was a thread a few minutes ago about this incident and it was removed. Anyone know why? I clicked to read page 2 and it no longer existed. |

Jeff says here that it violated the policy of just posting a link. https://www.dcurbanmom.com/jforum/posts/list/1007049.page
I do hope the OP returns and reposts with some narrative because I think this is a discussion worth having. |

I also asked on the website feedback why it was deleted. they only posted a link without commentary. Here’s a link to the story.

The coaches were alerted immediately but they didn’t do anything. A few weeks later it happened again at a girls volleyball game. As far as I know this is stayed very quiet and the school has not addressed it and it’s not been discussed within the Sherwood community. I commented on the first thread that this was the first I’ve heard of it. |
| I believe it. I went to Sherwood and it was racist and full of rednecks in 80's. I see nothing has changed. |
Several teacher friends have gone to Sherwood and left because they were sick of the bigoted students and their parents. |
| There is also an article in the Sherwood online paper: https://thewarrioronline.com/2021/10/08/britton-responds-to-disparaging-comments-shouted-by-students-at-sporting-events/ |

The Sherwood principal sent a letter last Thursday (October 7), about Sherwood students' behavior towards Einstein students on September 30 and October 4. |
| The racist/sexist remarks were directed at an Asian student. |
| My friend’s daughter plays on Einstein's volleyball team where the first incident took place. |
| Sherwood has issues but the principal seems to do a good job dealing with them. |

I stated in the other thread that if they really had a zero tolerance policy for this kind of thing, the coaches should've have stopped the game. Give a warning to the audience, and if it doesn't stop, then the game is forfeit by the offending side.
That's zero tolerance. What actually happened was high tolerance of racism against Asian American students by the adults there. If this happened to black players, I'm pretty sure there would've been a much bigger stink DURING the game. Double standard. |
Except there were two racist incidents back to back (that we know of). If it was an athlete, the team should be punished. If it was an observer, then only students accompanied by their parent should be allowed to attend. |
I disagree with punishing the girls on the field for the actions of the boys in the stand. Once again women bearing the weight of male issues. |
That is what he did, no spectators without a parent. |
Just the latest group to be harassed by Sherwood students. It’s not like they have only ever targeted Asians. A natural consequence of wrist-slapping for racism toward Black and Brown students has been that racists feel emboldened to turn their attention to East Asians. |
