For the Tl;dr crowd: In Fairfax County, the Chief Judge of the Circuit Court (Azcarate) instituted screening of everyone entering the courthouse, with the exception of police officers in uniform. This extra level of screening takes place on random days. Not every day. Commonwealth Attorney Steve Descano and his Deputy CA were stopped for screening, and they threw a profanity-laced tantrum directed at the private security guards who staff the magnetometers and x-ray machines. Taking a page from John Kerry, Descano pulled the “do you know who I am?” card on the two security guards, and asserted to them that he is in charge of all security measures at the courthouse. Security guards bring the incident to the attention of the Sheriff’s Office. Turns out, it was all recorded! |
| Well, that is just embarrassing. But, unfortunately, not really surprising. The liberal left, personified by Steve Descano, is fond of one set of rules for themselves, and another for everyone else. |
| He's a justice warrior, so not surprising at all. |
|
Did any of you watch the video? Seems to be a whole lot of nothing. Don’t hear any audio of this profanity-laced tirade or see anyone having a tantrum. What actually was the point of this story?
Must be a slow news night. |

A few thoughts:
1) People in positions of authority get angry and demand special treatment all the time. That's true of left, right, and unpolitical. Not a political issue. 2) Picking random days to screen people you don't usually screen is a terrible policy that's bound to piss people off because it's unpredictable. 3) The video at least doesn't really show much of a tirade. He presumably behaved a little unprofessionally (the video doesn't even really show that) but it seems like the news is making a big deal something pretty trivial. |
| What! News is making a big deal out of something trivial? You don’t say! |
Except the sheriff’s office ended up filing a report accusing the CA of abusive and unprofessional conduct. Not so trivial when people who are supposed to be working together in the public interest hold each other in mutual contempt. |
Liberal motto: "When you can't dispute... Deflect!" |
A few thoughts: 1. This guy is the Commonwealth Attorney. He isn’t the President. Ray Morrogh never acted like this. 2. Picking random days to screen people is one way to find things that otherwise may slip through the cracks. 3. The video on Fox5 is a neutered version. Those cameras record audio and video. 4. The security guards Descano encountered at the metal detector and x-ray machine are not Sheriffs. They are from a private company. Those two guards were upset enough with how they were treated by CA Descano that they raised the issue with the Sheriffs who are responsible for court security. Here’s a better story: https://www.insidenova.com/headlines/report-descano-deputy-unleash-tirade-on-courthouse-personnel-in-fairfax/article_f604d9d8-2765-11ec-ab79-0b47e428e6ca.html?fbclid=IwAR2-AGPsMYgkQ4O9oicWehlw2aJ7wsD5y__7yxF4EIsOYkEpixysCEQXTGM |
| The security guard needs to be fired for disrespecting him. |
| why are uniformed officers exempt? |
|
Who bankrolled this CA’s campaign?
Look into that, and this will all make more sense in that context. |
| I would think he’d be happy the screening program is working, and thank them for doing their job. |
Maybe because they are authorized to carry guns? |
| Steve Descano? Actually, no, I don’t know who he is. |
