Here is how to transfer to any high school in the area

If a white coach would have come and turned a football program around the way Overton has, every sports news outlet in the country would be praising the guy. This is crazy what’s happening to Hayfield.

You are being purposely difficult. It doesn't matter what color the coach is, the fact is that the coach has essentially assembled an all-star team through unethical abuse of residency requirements. They may win all of their games, but people will speak of them with derision. And rightfully so.

My creeper alarm bells are ringing with all these non-parent adults who seem to roam around with the coach as part of some weirdo entourage. The "team mom" who is not actually a team mom who he finagled a job for at Hayfield, the "Apostle", the youtube channel groupie, SO MANY assistant coaches, random relatives on the pay roll who he got jobs for as well, etc etc. As well as all the students hanging around who are Not On The Team. Three ring circus of cheaters and enablers.

He did not "turn around" Hayfield's football program.

He replaced Hayfield's football team with kids from out of county and out of state.

They’ve been investigated. If Hayfield were found to have violated the rules, any wins would be changed to losses, and any player living out of county or state would not be eligible to play.

However, they do not play Lake Braddock Woodson, McLean, Robinson or the undefeated 4-0 Langley Most of them with the exception of South Co, WSHS and Chantilly are quite small. Why is it that their Did you get a tea today not only game not FCPS is against a small school in Loudoun county. Luck or Unlucky of the draw?

Their schedule is reasonable based in Hayfield's record last year and geographic location. No one anticipated the principal allowing the biggest posse of all stars and con artists to assemble and use Hayfield's facilities and school program for nefarious ends.

And VHSL district realignment only happens every few years. If Hayfield remains a football powerhouse, then it may make sense to move up to the stronger Patriot District.

ACHS (former TCW) could move down to the weaker National District. But I doubt that will happen since Alexandria is growing that school to roughly 6000 students. So there should be no lack of talent for a competitive program there.

You really think this guy won't get fired at some point this year?

He’s gonna get fired for turning Hayfield into a dominant team, winning the state championship, helping kids get college scholarships, and raising money for the school? I don’t think so.

A whole bunch are ineligible due to investigation by VHSL, did you miss that?

I went to the Hayfield/Chantilly game on Friday because I wanted to see what all the noise was about. I wrote down the numbers of the kids that were playing for Hayfield and then looked to see where they played last year. Here is what I came up with:

Offense
they start 6 kids who went to Freedom last year - #'s 6 RB, 7 WR, 13 WR, 71, 51, 52 OL
QB # 5 - St. Johns
WR # 4 - Dematha
so 8 of the 11 players on offense did not go to Hayfield last year.

Defense
They start 4 kids who went to Freedom last year - #'s 6 FS, 7 SS, 3 LB, 52 DL
DE # 12 - Bishop Ireton
They also start 2 freshman #70 DL and #27 CB - who are PME kids who came over with the coaching staff
so 7 of the 12 kids who were playing on defense did not go to Hayfield last year.

I'm not arguing whether those kids transfered/moved in legally or not. I'm simply pointing out that he did not just "coach up" the kids at Hayfield. He did in fact, bring in a completely new team. Make of that what you would like.

As a side note - #6 for Hayfield is about as good a football player as I have seen in my time watching football in this area. I'm pretty sure Coach Overton would have had a great team if he just brought his nephew with him and added him to the existing roster. He is worth seeing if you get a chance.

Good players like to play with each other and realistically, they wouldn’t be able to compete with Madison, Highland Springs, or other division 6A schools where kids come in from outside the regular zoned area to play.

It’s looking as if the kids on Hayfield all moved into the district. Anyone with a sketchy living situation wasn’t allowed to play.

Falls Church, Edison, Mt. Vernon, Lewis, and Justice should refuse to play. Cite the likely lopsided result and plater safety. Make it a glaring red flag for FCPS and VHSL.

I don't know anything about Highland Springs but I have gone and watched Madison a few times the last several years. I know last year they had a kid who transferred from Oakton but I can't think of any other kids that have moved into that program in the time I have been watching. They also don't seem to have a lot of Division 1 talent on their teams, though I know they have one player committed to a D1 school this year. I would think a place like Hayfield would be able to compete without having to bring in kids from all over? I know they have talented kids that come through there from time to time. I remember watching Brian Cobbs play and they had some real good teams then. They won their district last year and had a lot of kids who were returning. I know Coach Overton is a very good football coach so I would think he could coach them up.

They are starting two freshman on Varsity and sitting out seniors who played last year. That's unfortunate.

Thank you for the actual facts/details.

That's 15 transfers playing *plus* 7-8 ineligible transfers still sitting out, plus who knows if therr are any Freedome kids who don't start.

Keep in mind that he charges kids to play on his private AAU team. The kids who pay him to play on that team are the same kids being "rewarded" with start time and positions at Hayfield (including the freshmen).
Pay to play...on a public school team.

Usually fcps freshman play on the freshman team. Its a safety/maturity issue.

Our very large school never has freshman play varsity. Varsity is for upperclassmen.

Yeah but if a kid is ready, he’s ready.
