Looking for a new 11-u baseball team for this spring or 12-u team for next fall. Wasn't sure we wanted to make the travel commitment, but more and more that seems like what we'll need to do to get the level of play DS wants. We'd also prefer professional coaches. We are in MD near DC line. Hoping to find an organization that will help DS grow as a player, but is able to keep the game fun.
What are people's experiences with Kidball travel? Maryland Nationals? Clarksburg Keys? BCC Big Train Travel? |
| That is a paradoxical thread title IMO. |
| Highly recommend DC Dynasty. Sign up in their mailing list and you’ll be notified of spring tryouts. They are a high caliber organization, win a lot, and have good coaches. |
| Recommend DC Dynasty, Kidball, and Mitchell Marlins. Also Win Within. |
| Winwithin was great. My son completed the entire program 10u-14u. Highly recommend! Now playing high school baseball and showcase baseball over the summers. |
NP here. About Win Within…how good are they? Asking for a friend whose kid is playing them in a few weeks
|
Second the Win Within recommendation. I also appreciate the programs commitment to minimizing the interference of crazy parents. Definitely trying to keep it fun while providing professional instruction for kids who want more baseball than LL can offer. |
They, like many organizations, have several teams at each age group, so it depends. You can search on GC to see the records of most opponents you’re facing. |
| As a team who has played all of these teams many times... Kidball seems to have the most obnoxious coaches/parents. DC Dynasty and Win within have good teams and coaches. |
I have to disagree. As a parent who has played all of these teams as well, Kidball kids don’t chant from the dugout, they come prepared and they win despite the fact that they are almost always outnumbered and undersized. I smell sour grapes. |
Our team has not played against Kidball, but have played against the others and had good experiences. Mostly remember all of the DC Dynasty group being nice and parents offered to help with field prep. |
| Wild Bill is a terrific organization too - great coaches and sense of community! They have teams in Upper NW DC and McLean, VA |
| We are a DC Dynasty family. We highly recommend it. We also have friends and play Wild Bill and Win Within. Would recommend them as well. The coaches I know on each level (12-14 range) are solid coaches, the parents are very nice, kids have good sportsmanship, and we always have a good time playing those teams. No need to travel too far since you’re so close. We also have a friend that left to ply for KOA in Moco because it was a bit closer to them. I’m not sure how competitive they were or what their experience was but maybe you can do a search. |
| New poster— I have a 9u who we are moving to another team because we are pretty sure the coach has some sort of implicit bias against nonwhite people. Are dc dynasty or win within particularly diverse? Not sure I want my kid as the only not white kid on a team again. |
Mizuno Outlaws is quite diverse, both players on the field and the coaching staff. |
