Advice for frozen embryo transfer

Anonymous
We are doing our frozen transfer in November or December. Any advice on how I can prepare now aside from taking vitamins? Should I continue to eat healthy, exercise, and try to get at least eight hours of sleep? Should I avoid caffeine? I avoided it during my retrieval but was wondering if I need to start restricting it now. I drink maybe 4 ounces three times a week. Thank you for your support.

I think all of that is good! Eat well, exercise, rest….basically get your body in shape to do better during pregnancy. I also tried to eat clean (less pesticides, more organic) to help make the environment as healthy as possible for the fetus. Same stuff they recommend if naturally conceiving or IVF.

Agreed! But don’t let it get to the point of stressing you out. Make better decisions where you can but still enjoy life.

I wouldn't change anything now! Just try to enjoy this period where you can drink and eat what you like

I did all the things, no caffeine, no alcohol, all organic, acupuncture, etc. my transfer didn’t work. I started having a couple of drinks a week, coffee 3-4 times a week, still did acupuncture. And it worked. I have no idea what made it work the second time. But I’m glad I tried everything.

You may feel better cutting out caffeine and alcohol, but I think if you scale back on both and keep other healthy habits of good sleep, exercise, eating whole foods and drinking lots of water, you’re keeping yourself as healthy as possible for a good transfer. Please also know at the same time that you can do everything perfectly right on paper and still not have that how come you wish for. Don’t blame yourself if that happens. But be prepared that it could be a possibilty and treat yourself kindly.

This. I would do whatever makes you comfortable and would cause you to second guess things the least. For me, cutting significantly back on what I was eating, drink etc. was so stressful so I decided to just try to add in more green veggies but stick with my normal diet. And I just cut back on caffeine alcohol once I started my estrogen cycle (one, occasionally two, glasses of wine 5 days a week until progesterone, then maybe half a glass a few times. and two cups of coffee a day). I tried to do relaxation exercises but acupuncture stressed me out. I did drink red raspberry leaf tea until I started my progesterone and with my doctor’s blessing, I went on baby aspirin. I continued to work out until I started progesterone and then just took long walks. And I took it easy on everything the day before the transfer and the day of. Both my transfers worked with this approach. Oh and I would start your prenatal vitamin now. Good luck!
