Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) screener

Anonymous
I received a letter in the mail from FCPS regarding an SEL screener that will be given to all students this year. The results "will be retained in secure files and databases accessible" only to staff. The questions that will be given are posted online. 1. If you fail at an important goal, how likely are you to try again? 2. When things go wrong for you, how calm are you able to stay? 3. How often do you think about what someone of a different race, ethnicity, or culture experiences? 4. During the past 30 days, how much did you care about other people's feelings? 5. How often are you able to pull yourself out of a bad mood? 6. How often are you able to control your emotions when you need to? 7. During the past 30 days, how carefully did you listen to other people's points of view? 8. During the past 30 days, to what extent were you able to disagree with others without starting an argument? 9. How useful do you think school will be to you in the future? 10. Do you have a friend from school who you can count on to help you, no matter what? 11. How connected do you feel to the adults at your school? 12. Overall, how much do you feel like you belong at your school? 13. Do you have a teacher or other adult from school who you can count on to help you, no matter what? 14. How confident are you that students at your school can have honest conversations with each other about race? 15. During the past week, how often did you feel worried? 16. During the past week, how often did you feel hopeful? 17. During the past week, how often did you feel sad? 18. During the past week, how often did you feel happy?

I'm sending in the opt-out request form. It seems that the people running FCPS are constantly looking for reasons to focus on anything but teaching students. I'm also concerned that this info is being stored under students' names.
