| Thoughts on the Techne app? Useful or no? It’s not cheap. Thanks in advance. |
Youtube works just as well. Remember the player does the work not the app. |
| I agree you can find the same tutorials on YouTube for free. Look up beast mode. |
| My daughter likes Techne. Our club includes it free for every team. The leaderboards, achievements, daily reminders foster competition within the team. Girls are aware of who on the team is ahead for the week and month. |
| Anyone know why MYS ended their Techne account? |
OP here. I wish more clubs offered that for all the reasons you mentioned. |
Thanks. Will look at beast mode. |
Any tutorials you can recommend? So much out there and not sure what’s good. |
Same, but I wouldn't pay the steep price if not. Playing outside + Beast Mode are just as good. |

techne is fantastic and helped structure my daughter's workouts. The founder Yael played at UNC and much of what she designed mimics what is needed. Kids absolutely need to master technical skills prior to reaching PHV (peak height velocity) ie. the end of their growth spurt.
Many physical changes until 14 and beyond. An inch of growth is significant to a young player by way of their agility and coordination. $230 (?) if I remember is like the same as 2 private coaching lessons. Get an ipad, set up a fun area and give the player structure and a place to go on a rainy day. Well worth it. |
| For girls the time and money would be better spent working on speed and strength training. Technical training is not really that important. |
Wow last comment sure was sexist. I am a dad saying this. Good lord. |
| Beast Mode Soccer just relaunched an App that's cheaper and has great content on it as well. |
Nope it is very true. You must not watch much soccer at any level. Technical girls/women players are far and few when compared boys/men’s soccer. This results is a slower speed of play overall. Speed of play is directly related to physicality of the game. The slower the speed of play the more impact physical players will have. If a player holds the ball till contact it becomes a physical and speed match up. This favors the faster more physical players. Also with less technical play there are more 50/50 balls- bad touches, bad passes, etc. This is where a fast player will win the ball by get there first. Look at any girls teams. The players who game is speed and physicality will be the vast majority of players vs the technical ones. Why not spend time and money improving strength and speed vs technical work. By u12 you know what type of player you are. By u13/u14 if you are not a technical player you are not going to magically catch up to the better technical players. |
Which is why even a fast technical player looks crappier on a fast physical team. They don't think fast, play the ball fast or play it accurately. They just kick and run. A really technical player gets lost in that crap. It's why you really have to look hard to find the right team and the right coach for the style of play that fits your player. |
