Naturally, suspicion fell on Norton — at least according to Norton, who was described by her staff Friday as a supporter of freedom (specifically D.C.’s freedom through statehood) and an opponent of fences (specifically around the U.S. Capitol). Norton said she had been “enjoying quiet time at home with family” when the zebras went on the loose sometime last weekend. “My alibi is solid, but given my career of fighting for statehood for the District, which includes years of explaining the importance of having consent of the governed, and given my recent opposition to fences, I can understand why the charge was made,” the release said. |
| Dumb article. |
| Haha nice work, Norton office. I was amused. |
| I honestly took a second to figure out what was going on. Realized quickly that whatever it is it was very, very dumb and stopped. I still have no clue but it seems so dumb that I’m happy to remain ignorant. |
| I thought it was funny. |
This was so strange. This was a real actual statement out of her office. How cryptic and nonsensical. I don't vote for her.... |
I'm with you. Some people need to set down the espresso and pick up a martini. |
| Too far of a reach (freedom, fences trying to link it to DC Statehood). Weak. |
|
She needs to be put out to pasture. Like the zebras.
In an attempt at humor, her office accidentally got a little too close to the truth. |
| Have they given up on catching the zebras? I think it would be great if they stay wild, reproduce, and in 30 years are as common as deer. |
+2, geez folks lighten up for goodness sake |
| So it was satire? It was so freaking weird. |
| Hilarious. Love her. |
I loved it! Big plus for Norton in my book! |
It was an opportunity to bring attention to statehood for DC. |
