Bicyclist knocks pedestrian unconscious, flees scene

Bike lanes are poorly maintained and completely disrespected. It's hard to go a block without your lane being blocked by an uber driver or other inconsiderate jerk. And if you do find that magical block, the bike lane will be full of trash and potholes.

But Trump said that bike infrastructure is "hostile to cars" and canceled all the local grants for it. So get used to cyclists on the sidewalk!!

Take up walking with a walking cane in hand. You never know when it might be useful.

I saw a cyclist almost hit a woman on Wisconsin Avenue in Chevy Chase yesterday. She had the walk signal and was in the crosswalk. Biker was clearly only looking for cars, never slowed down and almost ran her over.

They don't stop for anything.

Bike lane design needs to force them to stop.

There were 15 fatal hit and runs involving cars in DC last year alone:

Of note:

Weird how I didn't see 15 posts here last year talking about how irresponsible and dangerous car drivers are...

It's a question of scale. Nearly everyone drives and the vast majority of drivers are fairly safe and not looking to cause accidents. Whereas among cyclists in DC, it really seems that more than 50 percent of them are entitled, reckless, and selfish jerks. People hate cyclists in DC because of their lived experience with them. They are by and large not good people.

So you want a 5 year old on a barbie bike to have a license plate? And all of the scooters? How about pedestrians just wear shirts with ID numbers on them?

What are people’s impression of all the ATV riders who ride their ATVs on D.C.’s streets ?

1) not nearly everyone drives
2) driving is a privilege not a right
3) cars are far more dangerous to pedestrians and cyclists than vice versa.
4) there are plenty of drivers who are selfish jerks who hit and run, scrape and run, block crosswalks, block the box, cut people off and so on.

This thread is about something else. No one is stopping you from starting a thread about how dangerous cars are. In the meantime, this poor person was left severely injured by a guy on his bicycle.

Exactly. There is a reason so many of us are fed up with them. It's because of the exepriences we had.

So start a thread about that. This is not it.

Drivers being jerks DOES NOT give permission to bikers to be jerks to pedestrians.

This guy thinks bicyclists should be allowed to be totally anonymous even if they maim or kill a pedestrian.

It would be great if the cyclists could stay off the sidewalks. You have 100+ miles of bike lanes. You have the roads. If that's not good enough, then you can walk like everyone else.
