2027 AA Cavalier lacrosse “champs”

Wondering if anyone has any info or thoughts on the Cavalier program. Last weekend they won the 2027 (6th grade) HOCO AA with a goalie who’s in high school. (Of course it’s since been taken away.).

I know many lacrosse programs in the DMV are overly competitive... but this just seems hilariously over the top. They still have pics of their “champs” on their Facebook page.

Wonder if their guys wear “2027 AA Champs” hats to walk the halls of their high school?? 😂

I don't see that the Cavs were champions. They were in the Final Four, but lost to MadLax DMV who won the championship game.

Are you saying goalie actually attends high school, or is he a 7-8th grader who is as big as a high school player? A team playing down 3 grades would be a new low and Madlax DMVs win by forfeit just adds to the irony

look more closely and see EVERY other age group and division has completed their finals except 2027AA. the 1-0 score you are referring isn't a defensive battle - its a telltale sign of forfeit or DQ. hoco schedule shares finals for 2027AA will be this afternoon dmv v team maryland. yes, cavs still has AA hoco champions pic posted on their FB site.

No, OP straight out said the Cavs were the champs. The OP was not saying they were not the champs - the OP was mocking them for crowing about being champs of the AA division and for having an overage goalie.

Weird. The photo has them with a trophy and champ hats. But the finals are today, not last Sunday, which when the pic was posted.

hoco site shows DMV won 2027AA championship with a postgame photo shown on the hoco 2021 champions page.

Does anyone actually know what happened or is the goalie situation just speculation.

I know what happened. Cavs used a high school goalie (yes he’s actually in HS, not just “overage”) in the 2027 playoffs. He recently made varsity for his HS.

And he did play very well against the 6th graders. So... congrats?
