Clare Malone let go from 538/ ABC

Anonymous
She announced it on Twitter and it is the #1 trending item, at least for me. I always appreciated her on the 538 podcast and am Very disappointed that she won’t be there. I will try to link her tweet

People seem very upset about this especially because she was often the only female voice on 538. I always thought she had great insight and was more of a balancing force between the others, especially Nate.

I am wondering if Nate Silver was involved in her dismissal or if it comes from higher up at ABC. I also thought 538 was a branch of NYT but I guess that is wrong?

There are several other women who work for 538. I will miss Clare Malone, but it’s simply untrue to say she was the sole female voice.

This is probably terrible to say, but I don’t remember any, and I listen to most episodes. Are the other ones occasional? That being said, I do have some trouble keeping the voices straight, so maybe it’s me me. Isn’t she the most frequent female voice?

She was the only woman who was a part of the regular panel on the 538 podcast. There were other women who were occasional guests

I'm really disappointed she got let go. I think she is great. Hopefully some other outlet is smart enough to snatch her right up.

Also, I was never a political reporter - I had another beat - but this is why I left journalism. The instability of the job market. Even someone like Clare Malone isn't safe. It's terrible, and you can't help but think of how many people aren't producing journalism because of it.

The one podcast is a small part of 538. There were 2 senior political writers and they kept one.

There was no podcast yesterday, I thought it was every Monday

538 is appreciably worse without Clare's insight, wit and overall subject matter expertise.

She's been gone two days, it's a little early to judge.

She was the sole female voice on air and it’s BS that they let her go.

It came from ABC, not Nate.

That's not true either. Just the one 538 podcast you listen to. I don't like it, and Nate Silver said he did not have any control, and he didn't like it either.

Stop with all this nitpicking. She was The one female voice who was a regular on the podcast. That’s it. It does not mean that they have not had other female voices, but she was the sole regular one

Clare Malone wrote some very insightful analysis for 538.

Two of them:

The operation is greatly diminished by her leaving.
