Updates on Scott Bloom Freedom Hill/ Haycock principal prosecution?

Anonymous
Has anyone heard an update on the prosecution of Scott Bloom (former Freedom Hill / Haycock ES principal) for abuse of kids with special needs? I know there were delays with the pandemic.

Still delayed. You will hear when something happens, surely

I thought I read the head of HR and Special Ed have both resigned from FCPS. So I doubt the district ever responds to anything raised in the criminal prosecution.

I still want to know where the self-contained teacher was while all of that abuse was happening.

Head of special ed is Teresa Johnson and she has not left.

She’s retiring next week

I love how this situation keeps scabbing over for these two school communities and someone on DCUM keeps ripping it right off.

Do you really have to keep opening new threads? Do a quick google search.

Same can be said for for 98% of all the posts on DCUM. If it doesn’t concern you, keep on moving. There are some of us who this does concern and care that this man is held accountable.

Someone has a way to search the court schedule- they posted dates. I don’t know how they did it- Google searching didn’t work for me either.

I wonder if that is from the restraint litigation. Does anyone know how that is going?

Maybe the cases for the IAs who were doing the abusing have to be completed first?

Instructional aides Cylmeera Gastav, 48, of Herndon, Va., and Cecilia Maria Benavides, 59, of Alexandria, Va., are facing multiple misdemeanor and felony counts of cruelty and injury to children and assault and battery

Is he the reason there are so many permanent substitute jobs at Freedom Hill?

There is not currently a single permanent substitute job at FH. Do you mean Haycock?

Haycock parent here. When Fabio talked to us in January, he mentioned that there needed to be some determination from FCPS HR before they could officially open the position for another candidate. He thought that would happen in February but i'm sure everything got hosed by COVID. Anyhow, they are restarting the Principal search this week so at a minimum seems like Scott Bloom has been officially removed as the principal at Haycock. Haven't heard anything about the prosecution though.

Haycock has started a new principal search -- the 3rd one for us in the last 3 years!! Some record! The current interim August Frattali is great, but I'm sure he just wants to retire ... especially now since an Assistant VP moved onto greener pastures and there is a LOT OF WORK to do to roll out in person (if that happens). I'm sure he didn't think he's signing up for this when he said "ok" to the job. But getting back to the original question, I don't know what happened on the criminal charge, but obviously FCPS HR has made a decision when they issued a new principal search. I doubt FCPS will post him anywhere, given that they are pulling him from Haycock.

Anyone know where the old principal--Donnelly--went? Whereever he is, is where Bloom is going ...
