Can people help me figure out the reputation of the MS clubs?
Currently at Next Level but considering moving clubs. Am I incorrect in my feeling that NL isn’t of the same caliber as other clubs? How does it rank compared to MC ELITE and Pride? We are in NW dc and don’t want to spend hours in the car a week driving to practice. Eg to the st James regularly. Are there others I should be looking at? |
| Honestly depends on what year - varies greatly in each of the programs you’ve mentioned depending upon what age group... |
|
The one place that ranks club teams (only top 100) and uses scores from tournament games is here:
https://www.usclublax.com/rankings.html They are for 2020-2025 (HS and MS) |

IMO, the clubs vary greatly year to year but it is safe to say both MC Elite and Pride are better than Next Level. Next Level A (generally only have 1 level) has competed in a bracket lower than either the Pride or MC A teams in every tournament I have seen.
Now, it gets to be grayer if you are talking about b teams etc. |
If you don't want to spend the time in the car, and I don't blame you, and your ds isn't top of the heap then you should probably stay where you are. I'm guessing you initially chose NL because it was geographically close. |
MC Elite practices are at Stone Ridge in Bethesda. There are several families who commute from Chevy Chase/DC area. I imagine Next Level is more convenient though. |
| Curious to know why the change from Next Level. I heard a lot of girls from MC recently went to Next Level and that the program is making a turn for the better? Curious to know if things did not turn out as great as first perceived? MC is struggling to maintain good coaching for the younger club teams and many younger girls have left. While Hero's and Pride make announcements for 2030 coaching staffs, MC can't maintain a 2026 coach....frustrating......also now that Bethesda is apparently going through high school that may also become an alternative.... |
What's up with MC's 2026 coach? I heard they got a really good one for Carolina and I thought Midnight's was supposed to be good too? Did that change? |
| Not sure exactly....the Midnight coach is great but is having some scheduling issues from what I understand....so lots of stand ins so far......from what I hear the Carolina coach is great..... |
| That is news to me that Bethesda is running through high school? I thought at this point they were hoping to just bring back club level for the middle school girls (recognize they do have select level for middle school). |
This is what I know as well. BLC now has 6th grade...I don’t know if it goes beyond that though. |
NL 2026 is a combined team with 2025 so assuming they don’t have enough players. Not sure what the coach is like or level of play. The teams are weak. Just look at the standings and what leagues they are in. |
| I am the previous poster above and although I don't know for certain....I heard that Bethesda wants to try to keep the 6th grade (2026) team going through high school and therefore start going through high school.....not sure.... just what I heard and again I am the same person who said it above so this is not a second person confirming. |

MC Elite Midnight participated in the National Fall Tournament in Hagerstown and they were placed in the higher division and came out quite strong. BLC on the other hand was in lower division along with MC Elite Carolina, and although BLC ranked higher than Carolina, they were tied in their game against each other...so I would say BLC’s talent is more in line with MC Elite’s B team vs A team. https://admin.tourneymachine.com/Public/Results/Division.aspx?IDTournament=h2019010819301855103a2ec4506b24d&IDDivision=h201901101813574964b60aa8a709848
True that there have been some kinks in the coaching staff for Midnight, but it still continues to be the strongest 2026 team in Montgomery County. Not sure what is happening with NL, but their 2025/2026 team did not do well at all in the Round Up Tournament last month with zero wins. https://admin.tourneymachine.com/Public/Results/Division.aspx?IDTournament=h201910021404510103c34d391283246&IDDivision=h20191002140451037e51090b195ae43 So I would rank as follows: MC Midnight BLC MC Carolina Next Level Bethesda Select? (Do not know what they have done this fall) |
Should have clarified this is looking at just one age group, 2026. As other have said, it is definitely dependent on the partular graduation year. |
