I lost 5lbs on kind of paleo and I am weak

Anonymous
As in I have no energy. I am wound up from going up and down the stairs. I do ok at the gym, but have to push more than normal. But, I tried with regular moderate eating(I am not really overweight but need to lose some belly and bottom weight). Is this normal? I do eat green grapes and hard cheddar cheese and still lost 5lbs in 10 days. Kind of annoyed it worked because I like my bread and butter. Really what I gave up is bread and grains(ate some rice) and sugar, not plain fruit. Do I suck it up keep at it for another 5? And how to I maintain the weight loss after? Thanks.

Stop it with these stupid fad diets.

Eat non-processed foods. Don't overeat. Exercise regularly.

That's really it.

Uh, you are eating protein in some form, right?

Yes, I eat chicken and fish and eggs, and will have pork tenderloin tonight.

Paleo does not restrict calories or fruit at ALL, and encourages protein and good fats.

Please don’t use random labels for your crazy diets.

And grapes aren’t good for anything except hydration. Eat some food for God’s sake.

She does say "kind of" paleo. Whatever that means.

Op no matter what you call it, you aren't eating enough nutrients.

But I am not restricting, apart from bread/grains and sugar I eat everything as I want. Still weak. Why on earth are grapes not good for me?

How long have you been doing it? Might be the switch to keto. Once your body has switched to burning fat, it takes a little while to feel more energetic.

Eating low carb will cause you to flush out 5 lbs or so of water weight without any changes to body composition, since you store carbohydrate in your muscles and liver in the form of glycogen which carries along with it waters of hydration. Incidentally, if you have low glycogen stores you tend to feel really lethargic, and many women are even more prone to this than men since women's hormones are more dramatically affected by carbohydrate restriction than men. Eat healthy food of reasonable portions. If you eat low carb for a few days and suddenly drop 5 lbs, realize that is absolutely meaningless and you are being a scale slave. I think when monitoring your weight it's better to take a rolling average over weeks while taking data daily. Then you realize that 3-5 lb fluctuations are totally normal depending on how much you sweat, how dehydrated you are, and how much carbs/salt you eat that particular day.

Don't follow any diet to lose weight that you can't keep following for the long term. Seriously.

Drink more water and coffee and remember that the feeling of weakness is 90% mental.

When I do whole 30s and make everything from scratch, I often don't add salt at all and that is what makes me so fatigued when I work out hard. When I get to that point, I take a salt/ electrolyte capsule a few times and start adding salt back in. This might not be your problem, though.

Thank to all the replies. Thanks to pp for explaining the process. I added more quantities, I do exercise, and I remembered my DS(now 20) had to take salt pills when he was a teen and playing a sport. I don't take any sports drinks, so thanks for that advice!
