Loudoun Struggles in ECNL

Anonymous
I recall that Loudoun was touted on these boards as one of the top girls programs in this area, especially on the girls DA thread. However, it seems like Loudoun teams are really struggling in ECNL MidAtlantic division across all age groups. What's going on (e.g., unjustified hype, player departures, coaching issues, etc)?

U13 - 6th place
U14-7th place
U15-7th place
U16-11th place with -19 goal difference!
U17-9th place
U19-10th place

They seem to be all over the place. They had this announcement a while back that basically said that they were routing the top players to FCV DA and Loudoun would handle Boys DA. Then the ECNL announcement a year later.

Give it time. I assume you know the history of ECNL and DA. This the first year Loudoun will be have a ID session calendar that aligns with DA teams.

Whatever Loudon is or isn’t, the reason they left the partnership seems to be that FCV didn’t reciprocate or truly treat the most as partners.

Sure, I know the history and ID sessions sound nice, but how would they entice the top players to come if they have a very strong DA option next door with FCV and better performing local ECNL clubs?

Just ask Rae Ann next time you see her. She probably will still talk even though you are fully committed to FCV as an 08 playup.

I don't have any kids committed to FCV, but I know they have a strong program with quite a few youth national team call ups in older age groups.

Sure thing. Keep recruiting big guy

Forget FCV. They don't need any recruitment help. Why is Loudoun struggling so bad against other ECNL programs?

Umm, maybe because the other ECNL teams are just better.

Forget FCV? FCV DA seems to be the biggest reason Loudoun ECNL is struggling.

Didn't Loudoun have departures for Washington Spirit DA as well?

Once Loudoun was awarded ECNL their retention was pretty high. I don't think Loudoun will struggle to keep players going forward.

They are having problems because FCV is in the same location and has a fantastic reputation.
