I have always been a runner. I have intermittently tried other things but I know at this age I really need to do weight training. I am curious as to what others like as there are so many options at so many price points.
Recently stumbled on article about a type of weight training that is short but intense ( 20 min sessions.) Anyone do this and recommend? It appeals to me because only a short time commitment twice a week. I am doing yoga now, tried Barre ( did not like.) Other options around me: OTF, small group weight training; Cross-fit, Pilates, etc. Would love opinions. My goal is to be healthy, have strong bones, etc. Toning up arms and stomach good but main goal is to age well. Thanks! |

I really like to do body weight exercises (lunges, pull ups, push ups, planks/abs, squats), with a smattering of weight training thrown in every few weeks to change it up.
When I do the weights I do just one set of the highest weight that particular muscle can handle, aiming to get 6-8 reps if possible. |

I’m not sure link copies correctly but on web md:
Want More Strength? Slow It Down Also, another was from an old Bethesda Magazine on places that did this type of training. I read over the weekend while doing a search so I did not bookmark. Sorry for no direct link! |
