Actually, some modern dogs are larger than some types of modern wolves and/or coyotes, who live outside.

A lot has to do with the breed of dog. Huskies and malumutes were actually bred to spend extended periods of time living outside in extreme weather conditions.

I still wouldn't leave one outside without adequate shelter and water. And my personal preference is to let dogs inside.

But the statement "no dog is meant to live outside" is just flat out wrong. Perhaps you meant, some dogs aren't meant to spend extended periods of time outdoors.

And for certain breeds, being outside isn't the same as how kids like to be outside, unless your kids like to stalk squirrels and birds or sniff out moles or your kids like to burrow in the snow and sleep there, like my husky.

different PP here. I don't think the PP who says it's like long underwear understands how an undercoat and outercoat works. I also don't think that PP has ever had a breed of dog that has that type of fur and is, actually, equipped to endure extreme temperatures.

You understand, I am sure, that the key difference here is that they have the OPTION of coming inside. If it is frigid cold, if it is boiling hot, if they want company and comfort, food and water, they can get that.

Keep in mind, too, that dogs left outside have a higher chance of biting than dogs that live inside with the family.

To make my point I will wear the skin of dog outside at night in winter while tied to tree. Everything will be fine. Americans need real problem, like how to run barefoot through woods while chased by hungry wolf. Everyday, I have electric for to use laptop made by dogs running on spinning wheel. They are lucky to be alive and not eaten for food by neighbor. It has been long winter.

My doge is very mad because I didn't hold up his bowl o' baked chicken thigh while he ate it. He hates to have to bend his neck down to eat.
