I wanted something a little more elegant, but DH loved the name Ada.
Just a different take on spelling I suppose. |
| I think any time you have to tell people how to pronounce a name it's not a good idea |
| Noooooo |
|
I think the "Ada" spelling is the best choice for this name. It is a pretty name.
"Aidah" is try-hard and kre8ive: yuck. |
| Just leave off the H. |
|
"Ada" is the most common, traditional spelling. THIS is the "elegant" choice you want.
"Aidah" is the opposite of elegant. |
That would be aye-ee-duh -- which is an opera. No. Ada is old ladyish, but everyone seems to love old lady names these days. |
| I like Ada. It makes me think of The Poisonwood Bible. But you must spell it Ada. It's a palindrome! |
|
I see this pronounced as "ay-I-dah"
So it doesn't really work |
| Ada or Aida (like the musical) |
| You could do Adaline nn Ada if you want something more formal |
Agree completely. Ada is lovely; Aidah looks...kinda trashy.
|
|
Aida... like Verdi's opera.
Aidah is bleh. |
| Aidah will be read as Aidan when you handwrite out the name unless you are very careful with the H. |
| Do Ada or Adah. |
