Lot of kids that play for VLC go on the play for high level D1 teams. Good kids, good families.

LOL...yeah, ok!!! VLC has a straight line to Christopher Newport just like Cav's.

I gotta agree, it's becoming a little mediocre. They have produced some good classes in the past, but the ones coming up very iffy.

Last year in HoCo.
2023 was 7-0
2024 was 7-0
2025 was 4-2-1
2026 was 5-1-1

So whatever.

Btw...the leagues go Elite, AAA, AA, A, B.... So beating up on neighborhood programs, as well as the big boys B teams makes you much closer to mediocre than Elite. I'm sure VLC brass strives to do better and believes they were better in the past.

I think if you win AA you should move to AAA if you win AAA you should move to Elite. Teams that push themselves up to Elite just so they can say they played elites like 2023 Team 91 and Next Level who each won a single game. 3 teams went 6-1 and the next best win total was 3. I get that coaches want to put kids against the best competition but I think that works better for tournaments/showcase events rather than HoCo. HoCo is about getting reps in and prepping the team for the summer push. Getting demolished but playing in Elites is silly. Play where you belong and when you win move up. The Premiere League in soccer gets it right. Top 3 teams in the level below move up, bottom 3 from the top league move down.

All good points on HoCo Division. What helps a team place/stay in the Elite bracket - rostering older kids, even HS aged kids who are still playing youth lacrosse and think they're amazing.

Bitter much? But you are right on the whole. The elite divisions, especially in the 2 older divisions, do have older rosters. It's not against the rules and older players are typically bigger, stronger and faster and therefore lead to better teams.

HoCo does move teams up and down and the teams must appeal to move higher and fight to stay in the higher divisions. VLC's 23's would have moved up but ran out of time. The 24's will have to petition pretty hard to move into elite and I suspect they won't even try.

Word on the street is that the 23 team couldn't go Elite because Baltimore was already in that spot. The other clubs didn't want 2 Crabs in the same division.

Hoco site shares last spring 23 Crabs won Elite (7-0) and 23 VLC won AAA (7-0). VLC 24 won AA (7-0). My guess is VLC would have played higher divisions if they were able to.

Nobody wants VLC in Elite because it's a WASTE OF TIME playing them. They don't field strong teams and the reason's why can be debated here over and over.
