May God have mercy on you, is your will updated?

go to one of the crime reporting sites like crimereports.com. Although, they are not 100% accurate, they will give you an idea.

Ah yes, one of the Montgomery County residents who have never actually been to PG county. They come and troll the PC county schools forum every time the topic comes up. It was why we asked for (and were granted) a separate forum from the MD schools forum. It decreases the number of people like this.

In reality, the vast majority of the crimes in PG county occur in the 3-5% of the county that lies inside the beltway. Outside the beltway, the crime statistics are much more like Montgomery County. Fort Washington is fine.

OP - why PG?

I hate to say this, but there are 2 PG county's, Inside the Beltway and Outside the Beltway. Like someone said, crime outside the betlway is comparable to MoCo and other so-called nice affluent areas that surround DC. However, the further in you get the higher the crime rate. My mom lives in Temple Hills....well actually Hillcrest Heights and to be honest, I worry about her over there, but she's well known someone no one bothers her. There are pockets in various neighborhoods that are nice, but if you go a couple streets over it's ratchet as hell. Oddly enough, before moving out to Upper Marlboro me and the wife lived in Suitland and despite its reputation for high crime the 7 years that were there we really didn't have a problem with crime. Someone stole my neighbors truck once and this guy across street who drove this Infinity found his car on bricks (he had some bad ass rims) one morning. Other than that, it was quiet. Our biggest issue was trifling neighbors.

The running joke when it comes to PG, don't live anywhere that have some type of elevation in it's name, ie. Capital HEIGHTS, District HEIGHTS, HILLcrest HEIGHTS, Temple HILLS, Marlow HEIGHTS.....you get the picture.

There are some nice areas in Fort Washington, Upper Marlboro, Bowie, Greenbelt, Brandywine, Laurel, etc.

University Park and the Historic and Arts Districts of Hyattsville are inside the beltway and awesome! There is a new Whole Foods, Bus Boys, Yes! Organic, Franklin's, Pizza Paridiso going up, and Vigilante Coffee.

And I don't disagree with you, like I said there are pockets where you find nice areas inside the beltway unfortunately many are surrounded by some bad ones.

That is bull shit, PG crime is nothing like Montgomery county. That is just a BS talking point people say to feel better about them selves and their chioces. The fact is PG has literly 3x-6x more violent crime despite having almost two hundred thousand people less. And on top of that PG is in multi-decade lows that correspond to the increased prosperity of of the DC region. if the DC area regresses or low SES people continue to relocate to PG we will most likely see a reversal of that trend. And the outside the beltway being this anti crime oasis is BS too, be it laurel, greenbelt, Beltsville or many others that are bad school & high crimes areas. The real clue for crime is that every where there is population density. It is that there aren't as many people in the rural areas that accounts for the overall lower crime making some isolated pockets look comparable to urban Montgomery county. Don't believe me?

MC http://www.goccp.maryland.gov/msac/counties/data/Montgomery.xls

I'll never know why people would chose higher taxes, some of the worst schools in the state, some of the highest and most violent crime, disproportionate policing and on and on to buy a house at a discount and then swear there is no reason for said discount. Keep lying to your selves and intrested new comers

We are white and live in College Park. It's fine.

I don't get the PG bashing? Has anyone actually lived here?
