Does driving a domestic car around DC signal middle class status?

My grandfather is a business owner. I'd consider him UMC. He's always had a domestic car. No clue why!

It was a thing back in the 80s. Until everyone realized domestic cars suck.

I can't even fathom driving a 140k car. Don't you stress about it getting dinged? About your kid getting in with muddy cleats?

what about your kid's friends with snacks? remember the post about the neighborhood ignoring the no snack rule and leaving his uneaten food on the floor of the vehicle? I would be too worried about all that could go wrong with a pricey vehicle.

No, but I'm curious now!

Politicians tend to drive American cars.

My very wealthy uncle was in the construction business and only drove domestic cars. He said he did it because because he didn't want to piss-off many of the union workers he delt with daily.

My friend is in a similar situation. He drive Ford F-150 pickup at work (though the luxury version), then on the weekends he drives his German luxury cars. When we're out, he also asks us not to post any photos of him with his cars for the same reason.
