It’s a tax dodge for small biz owners. They get to write off 80% of vehicle price in year 1 against their income.

Yeah, but minivans suck. |

Agree. |
So do people with large families who don’t care about our planet. |
Minivans are probably the best designed vehicles in history, as evidenced by their enduring popularity. |
No they don't. I have very blue collar friends who drive monstrosities like Ford f150s 250s all day because they haul around tools and equipment. He is absolutely in love with the Honda Odyssey he drives around to haul the family in during the weekends. |
| Cool, yeah, minivans still suck. I don’t care what your plumber and construction worker friends do. |
Yes, and what provides the electricity to power your POS EV? Coal-fired fossil fuel plants. |
Its this! The Section 179 tax deduction allows eligible businesses to deduct the cost of machinery and qualifying equipment when filing their taxes. This could be office furniture, technology, supplies, and other tangible items. This includes vehicles. And HEAVY vehicles get a better write off. Any vehicle with at least 6,000 pounds GVWR but no more than 14,000 pounds (3-7 tons). This includes many full-size SUVs, commercial vans, and pickup trucks. For 2023, a vehicle qualifying in the “heavy” category has a Section 179 tax deduction limit of $28,900. However, these autos are eligible for 100% bonus depreciation through the end of 2022. Starting in 2023, the allowable bonus depreciation percentage will decrease to 80%. But there are still better "heavy SUV's" so not sure why people are choosing Wagoners. |
Oh that’s right, you think you look cool in your oversized truck. I assure you, you don’t. You look like a overcompensating a33hole, which is obviously right on the money. |
You sound more ignorant than any plunber or construction worker I know. Do better. |
|
Yeah, so, hate to break it to you, even with the addition of your ad hominem attacks, minivans still suck. They aren’t fun to drive, they have no towing capability, they have inadequate space behind the back seat for the number of passengers, they have low ground clearance. They have no versatility beyond being a plush minibus for a boring family.
And you look like a doofus driving your brood around in them. Most minivan dads also have wicked road rage issues and get all red faced at their kids hockey games. |
Most EVs make ICE cars look hopelessly outdated. They’re extremely fast, great suspensions and steering, lots of tech. And less than 20% of US electricity comes from coal, and it’s dropping rapidly. |
Not to mention even if electricity comes from coal, to drive a mile in an EV is lower carbon emissions than driving a mile on an ICE. |
