What are the preppiest and wealthiest towns in the Jersey Shore?

If you really want somewhere preppy and wealthy, why would you look at the Jersey shore and not the Hamptons?

Because the Jersey shore is fifty times easier to get to?

The Hamptons except for Southhampton is not really preppy. For preppy and wealthy it is Nantucket and Martha's Vineyard.

Correct list: Mantoloking, Deal, Rumson, Spring Lake, Longport, Loveladies, Harvey Cedars and Cape May.

Preppiest? Closest to Nantucket or the Cape?

Wealthy, preppy, all ways of saying the same thing. The Stone Harbor Bethany comparison is an Apr one. Both are nice beach areas that aren't't particularly exclusive.

Not always. Deal is very wealthy, but I don't know anyone who would call it preppy.

Hmm, I would not have put Mantoloking on that list but maybe I haven't been there in awhile ... did you mean Interlaken? Rumson is near but not on the beach, and more importantly is a year round community, not a summer beach town with hotels and b&b's (same goes for Deal and all other towns on the shore in that area). I do agree that Rumson is very preppy, wealthy and lovely!

No, I mean Mantoloking. OP asked what the wealthiest towns on the Jersey beach are. Not all are for tourists, and even fewer have hotels or b& bs.

Read the op's post and not just the title. She is looking to travel to one of these beach towns, not just compile a list of wealthy and preppy towns near the jersey shore. And I'm from Rumson, btw, which is why I feel certain it is not the answer to op's question (unless she wants me to call my parents and see if they will rent her a room in their house).

And Mantoloking/Bay Head are adjacent. The whole area is very nice. A college friend's family has a huge house there. It was always such a treat to be invited.

I don't think I ever realized it was an actual place; not sure what I thought it was when she'd talk about going to Loveladies. Hadn't thought about that for years until I read the name here. Now I want to go!

Made me smile. Harvey Cedars and Loveladies were once modest beach houses. Then, at least in Love Ladies (Can't remember how it's spelled) they started razing them and building monster houses on stilts. It became expensive, but not thinking preppy. You get bay and beach there, and a breeze.

Seriously? Have you been to the Bay Head Yacht Club?

It's still under construction. Part of it is open. I would wait until next year when hopefully the construction is complete.

This is interesting. I stayed here twice with my girlfriends and it was decent, but by no means luxurious. The beach was the best thing about it. I think Cape May is much nicer than Avalon

Cape May is ok. There tight now. Beach is nice, plenty of good restaurants but hotel (one of the Cape Shore properties- owners also have Congress Hall) old and decrepit. Not a fan.

Which hotel? Some are better than others.
