How do you handle totally wack-o relatives?

We have given our in laws much, and they are completely ungrateful and see it as every opportunity to slip into their old ways of DH as a door mat- instead of stepping up and saying gee, thanks. No. Way. They don't see me at family functions. I never did anything to them. Respect goes both ways. MIL can stuff it.

I cut mine off, too, and it was so liberating.

My cousin is like this. He's CRAZY right-wing Christian who was always trying to convert us (either politically or religiously). I'm middle-of-the-road (yes, I know, armadillos...) but it got so offensive. I just keep repeating, "we know we disagree on this, can't we talk about something else?"

Now we talk about soccer. Or wine. It works much, much better. Just like with kids, consistent discipline works.
