Someone isn’t reading. Georgetown is not particularly religious anymore than any other non-Jesuit school. |
Georgetown is much more liberal overall than UVa |
The student has to get into both schools. Kid could get into UVa but not GU. |
That’s medical school not pre-med. |
So few seem to grasp the difference. Princeton doesn't have a medical school but it will have a higher acceptance rate for pre-meds into accredited medical schools than either of these schools. |
| UVA has a rich selection of pre-med course and the standard ones are very competitive with many pre-med students. Has several pre-med friends who ended up with great med school and residency placements. Knew only one who decided to go to medical school outside the US because US medical schools are such a hard admit. |

I looked at this. Georgetown had a higher reported medical school acceptance rate.
UVA reported acceptance rates from 52%-60% (national average a bit over 40%). Georgetown reports "ranges from 75-85%. The five year acceptance rate for 2019-2023 is 79.6%." The UVA link no longer seems work correctly, but you may find the information elsewhere on the site: https://career.virginia.edu/pre-health/medicine/applications#Statistics%20for%20Medical%20School%20Applicants For Georgetown it is under "what is the medical school acceptance rate" here: https://premed.georgetown.edu/postbac/pb-prospective-students/postbac_faq/ |

Thanks everyone for your feedback.
Daughter got into both UVA and Georgetown. Georgetown is a bit more pricey for us but I’m more focused on which pre med has better program and more acceptance to medical school. Daughter definitely likes feel of Georgetown more but wants to choose school that offers more/better research opportunities during undergrad and higher acceptance rate into medical school (assuming she does well in both schools) |
Did she visit both departments and ask questions of the right people who are actually there, on campus? |

Not sure if similar at UVA, but GU Med likes GU undergrads.
There may still be a fast track program at GU where you are admitted into GU med school after sophomore year, typically having completed important courses like Orgo. No need to take the MCATs if accepted into this track. You can still take it if curious. |
| You also clearly have to complete your undergraduate degree to continue on to med school. |
I strongly doubt this exists at GU. |
| It is called the Early Assurance (EA) program. There is a minimum GPA requirement that has to be maintained through your first 4 semesters. There is an application. Very selective. It exists in other schools as well. |
Not anymore! |
