No, it did not come together at the end. It got even stupider.

I haven't seen it, but the description sounds like Talented Mr. Ripley crossed with Brideshead Revisited and a smattering of Great Gatsby.

It's like someone crossed Brideshead Revisited with The Talented Mister Ripley, but with amazing cinematography and bad writing and acting that is okay at best. And then added a bunch of gratuitous gross sex stuff. It's kind of like, "Look how avant gard we are showing full frontal nudity!" But it is really just super tedious and boring and gross.

Guess I should have read ahead!

But the ending at least explained some things

Just watched- I couldn’t turn away. Such fun entertainment. I was worried it would be too hard to watch based on all the horrified chatter I heard but it actually wasn’t that bad

I watched it and enjoyed it more than I thought. The family is pretty stupid and I think Oliver was creepy the whole time but it was a really pretty movie. Definitely not a deep one.

NP
It really was fun and I enjoyed it so much I left the theater laughing and in a great mood. It was pretty, funny and just entertaining which is what I sometimes need from a movie outing. I liked the shocking plot and the actors they cast. Everyone complaining here would have hated Babylon, which I enjoyed too as an experience and movie art.

The Talented Mr. Ripley was actually plausible. Saltburn was pure fiction that couldn't happen in real life.

Forgotten next year while Ripley lives on.

I think what I disliked most about Saltburn was that it’s some posh, spoiled English woman making an “eat the rich” satire that, while it lampoons everyone, ultimately implies the fabulously wealthy deserve all the attention.

The acting wasn’t bad, although the actor playing Oliver was too old for the part. Maybe they couldn’t find a hot younger actor to dance around stark naked.

I did think the actor playing Oliver was too old. He was good for the part but I thought Jacob Elordi was the real star. I also like the guy who played Farleigh.

I don't think Saltburn will even rise to cult classic but TMR is a classic for sure

I loved Mr Ripley so was hoping for something similar. I still liked it, but dh hated it lol. I thought the story was interesting, and seeing at the end how contrived and targeted Oliver was is cool.

I thought the Dick at the end was the high point of this shitty movie. Now you all saying it’s fake?

Sheeeeeet!!!!!!!

I thought that the final scene was fabulous! Others in my theatre laughed out loud during it. It was a perfect example of show don’t tell storytelling that almost made me forgive them for that clunky montage just before. Oliver got everything he wanted, a big ass mansion to himself and he celebrated by dancing naked though it just because he can. complete freedom. I was about the same age as the young characters in 2006, when it was set so I appreciated the use of “ murder on the dance floor”.
