| Can't decide. I don't care that lily is very popular right now. I am thinking about the fact it might not be adult enough in 30 years, but then again, there will be lots of lilys her age. Same with Lucy. Having trouble deciding between the two. We would Pronounce Lila as Lie-la. I kinda hate the pronunciation Leila and figure she will be called that on occasion. This is one reason the other two are higher on our list. |
| Op again... Also thinking that lily may be too frilly. Lilian sound way too old to me. DH hates Lucile, so we would for sure do just lily or Lucy. |
| Lucy. |
| I like Lila. I might have said Lucy but I saw this show where a lady was named Kucy. Her last name makes it sound weird like Poon Tang. I wonder if her parents made up Kucy as a K name + Lucy combo. |
They all sound lovely to me. Nice short list!

Lila. And I can't imagine it ever being pronounced "Leila" so I don't think you have to worry about that. Seriously.
Also, I personally know, PERSONALLY, four 1-2 year-olds named Lilly or Lily. It's not just popular, it's at critical mass. It's this generation's Jennifer. Avoid it at all costs! |

I like them all, or rather like them enough not to think "oh god, no" to any of them. But just a heads up, when I see "Lila" I would pronounce "Lee- la"
I guess just like when I see Eva I pronounce "A- Va", I think it might be due to hearing a lot of my parents' original romance language or just being around friends and family of that ethnicity that would pronounce names that way, even though I myself am not really bilingual and speak only English fluently. So you might have to correct that some on strangers. |
You're overreacting here. Nothing will ever top Jennifer. There aren't even as many Madisons and Jadens there were jennifers and those names are way more popular than Lily. |
Agreed. It is only no. 15 on the list for 2011. Jennifer was no. 1 for over a decade. I think Lily is big is some circles, but Jennifer was big in every circle. |
| I've always loved Lucy. |
| All three are very pretty and all three are very popular. I know 3 Lucys, 2 Lilas and 1 Lily. I think the PP above is a little over the top about Lily's popularity. |
| I like Lily the best of the three. Not a fan of Lila. |
| PP here - I think Lily is absolutely fine as an adult name. |
| Love Lucy but Lila is great too. |
| I'm not a fan of Lucy. I think it doesn't work for an adult or even teen and sounds like a doll or cartoon character to me. It's to character-like. |
