When AAP Centers disappear will DCUM remove AAP as a section?

Actually,

If you were around when Jeff started the separate AAP section you would know that it was done based on requests for non-AAP parents like yourself who did not want to read about AAP or see any AAP posts in the VA schools forum.

Unfortunately, those who hated AAP and so vehemently lobbied Jeff for a separate AAP forum all followed along to the AAP forum and continued to post at a volume greater than those people who had actual questions about AAP.

The real question is what are the anti AAP crowd going to do with their time when they don't have AAP centers to complain about. I imagine they will redirect all their energy to complaining about how their kid is not in the new LLIV classes that will likely be in every school as the replacement for AAP.

Be careful what you wish for. I will likely be worse than what you have now...

+1000 - I do recall the anti AAP discussions in the Va PS forum yet at this forum we still hear so much from opponents. I understand and appreciate that not all feedback is positive but it would be helpful if it was truly from parents that either had a child in aap or was considering. It's like any non Special ED going on the SN forum complaining about them. It's not all black and white.

+1. This. I can't believe anyone thinks things are going to magically get better in schools without Centers if there is suddenly one "smart" LLIV class a grade, and 4 GE classes. Of course all of the AAP Haters think there kids would be in LLIV, but math and logic say otherwise. Our ES was LLIV, and the AAP/ GE dynamics were nasty. It absolutely destroyed the community atmosphere. I can't believe people are rooting for it. What's the curse? May you get what you wish for.

The current dynamics in centers with only one or two GE classes and multiple AAP classes are far worse. Talk about community atmosphere being destroyed. I'd take one LLIV class in a base school any day over a center. I'm happy to have my child in GE, if most of the other kids were also in GE, rather than at a center where most of the kids are in AAP.

In other words, what you wish for and what I wish for are two completely different things.

What percentage of the AAP kids at your school are actually inbounds with the center as their zoned school?

Our center is not one of the huge centers. Most of the center kids are actually zoned for the center as their base school.

So even if they sent everyone back to their base schools, almost have the AAP kids would remain. For my kid's grade, this would mean instead of three large AAP classes and three slightly smaller but still large gen ed classes, there woukd be two smallish, nice sized AAP classes (low 20s) and the three large-ish gen ed classes (around 30 kids).

I am sure in some of those large centers, you will end up with a similar dynamic, perhaps even the same number of classes in both programs but low 20s in the AAP classes and upper 20s to 30s in the gen ed classes.

If you are in one of those very crowded center you might end up with an even less desireable and less equitable situation depending on how many zoned kids are AAP.
