| St Agnes def preps kids for the test. They have a study skills class during the day where they take practice tests starting the first week of 8th grade. |
| DS had an 89 coming from an Arlington K8. He was originally waitlisted. |
| Did he get off the waitlist? |
| I doubt either of these schools have a threshold score. There are a lot of factors that lead to admissions. They will use the hspt scores for placement in classes. If your kid has a low hspt score don't count on them getting placed in honors classes. |
| Many of the waitlist kids at GZ were offered spots by May. There’s also quite a few of them now failing a class or two. |
How could you possibly know this? |
Moms talk. And it’s widely known by the legacy families that GZ admits unqualified kids off the waitlist since they can’t fill all the seats. About twenty to thirty of those kids struggle and end up leaving after freshman year. |
I know some schools give a practice test in the Spring of 7th grade. They may not give a prep class - but the students are not seeing the test for the 1st time when they sit down for it in Nov. |
This person has no clue. 20-30 kids do not leave Gonzaga after freshman year. That’s ridiculous. Maybe a handful leave for various reasons but I have 3 boys and I know for sure that none of their classes had more than that not return for sophomore year. Also, while I believe legacies can get in with much lower scores, I think they just get in. Not waitlisted first, as PP implies. I know a few waitlisted boys from our 3 admissions cycle and they were all qualified and all did just fine once they got in. |
He did! Right after the original acceptance day, so well before May. .. and he is passing all his classes. (Agree PP has no idea what they are talking about. There are not more than one or two kids who leave after freshman year). |
