It's hard to know what is true, but usually it's somewhere in the middle. And this media writer can take nuggets of information and spin them into nefarious statements to make Gerry look like a horrible jerk.
The article says: "At restaurants, Carolyn paid her half in advance, and then when the check came, Gerry paid the whole tab, like the big man. They agreed Gerry was fastidious about cleanliness. In the mornings, she says, Gerry insisted that Carolyn make the bed before she come upstairs for breakfast. " It's possible they had a very equal relationship and Carolyn WANTED to pay her own way (or they mutually agreed that each paying for their own meals was fair). They don't quote Carolyn saying "Gerry was a cheap-skate, chauvinist, abusive jerk." Carolyn doesn't say those things about Gerry. So she paid him her share of the meal, and he paid for the total. It's THE WRITER who throws in the subjective negativity "like the big man." That's the THR trying to gin up hatred for Gerry and get clicks. That Carolyn "paid him in advance" could mean that she gave him $20 before the check arrived and then he total paid the check with his credit card. Re: household chores, again, the truth could be that G and C had a perfectly normal conversation that whoever gets out of bed last should make the bed. So, G gets up earlier and starts the coffee... and their arrangement was that C would make the bed before she came to the kitchen. But, a writer could hear that scenario and twist it to "Gerry insisted that C make the bed before coming to breakfast!" The point is, we DON'T know Gerry's side, and a lot of the "hit" parts of the article DON'T have any "proof." The article references "proof" that Carolyn lived at the lake house. But, that's not "proof" that he told her she's fat and he forced her to do all the housework, etc., etc. It's just a SUPER suspicious hit piece that is getting a lot of clicks b/c Gerry is very topical right now. It's funny that they say Carolyn is speaking up now because she doesn't want to be talked about around Davenport. THEY BROKE UP THREE YEARS AGO! No one is going to be talking about her. It's all very smarmy. |

The few "young" Gerry pics out there are from a distance and a blurry, so can't really see. He said in an interview he couldn't drink certain things because of the temporary caps. Don't know if they're now removed or if then he got permanent ones. |

The lead has NO control over how they present you on advertisements or which words they pick to show on the series. Same for the contestants.
Gerry has never said that he is a wealthy man. He has only said that he planned to live his retirement years at the lake house. He plays pickleball (not an expensive sport). The producers do what they do to create a larger audience. If you take their bate and believe everything they imply, then that's on you for naivit[code]é. You have to watch these shows with the understanding that what you are seeing is what THEY WANT YOU TO SEE. When, in the middle of the season, they were showing you that it must be X or Y in the end, that was clue #1 that it would NOT be X or Y in the end -- they aren't going to give it away! They want to lead you down the wrong path so that you'll be surprised in the end. |

I’m sorry but any man outside of being in their 20s maybe 30’s that asks a woman to move in with him at his age and is clearly trying to court her,promises her parents he is going to marry her and I’m sure he gave her no ring and then charges her rent!Are you kidding, at the same time he’s expecting her to give him all the sex He needs for free, probably clean his stupid house, make his meals and act like a wife with absolutely no commitment. I find that reprehensible at his age there’s no excuse for that. he had to pay his bills, had to do all that stuff after his wife died by himself, so he clearly could afford it. He was just using her, and I think he is a despicable man for doing it. I totally believe her , because he puts on his bullshit pretense sensitivity, crying jag of his ,talk is cheap, action speak way louder than words he’s a dog

| Him being fatphobic and monitoring his exgirlfriends weight makes perfect sense considering all the women he matched with or gelled with were extremely thin, especially for their ages. And he ultimately choose Teresa who is so very thin for her age with a totally busted face. This guy seems like a whacko. |

In response to the comment about him, not wanting her to go to his reunion because of explaining about a girlfriend, that’s total bullshit, he’s able to explain that to this young woman exactly how he felt and she would’ve been totally fine with it .that happens all the time with weddings everything I totally believe that woman The story did not sound made up
and I don’t believe that in a show like this, that all the bachelors go and tell all the women how much he loves them all and promises their family. He’s gonna love and take care of them that does not happen maybe when you’re in high school or middle school Jerry’s in a 70s for God sakes which goes to show you it doesn’t matter, he’s a man child that’s all he is who got reinvented and his good looks is fooling everybody |

This guy didn’t want to be alone and used this woman who I think said she was 12 years his junior, which still makes her old. I get not wanting to be alone because people freak out about being alone and they stay in marriages forever and everybody thinks it’s a love story forever and it isn’t necessarily. A lot of people don’t have the guts to get out of the bad marriage so they stay. It’s as simple as that does not necessarily mean he was in this amazing relationship. He panicked she died.m,he did not want to be alone and he totally used this woman. It’s as simple as that and I totally believe what she said, he clearly didn’t care about her or love her like he promised her family because he would’ve never charged her rent, and all the other nonsense , and if he did who wants him anyway, nobody needs a man like that you can do bad all by yourself. He has daughters how would he like his daughters to have been treated that way?

No one forced her to move into his lake house. She did that all on her own after knowing him for years and dating him for 9+ months. C knew what she was getting into . If she didn't like it, she didn't have to stay for several YEARS.
Maybe she was using him to get out of a bad marriage of her own. It's crazy how you all think you know everything and are SO willing to take a morsel of "bad" and blow it up into a mountain of horror. We DON'T KNOW THESE PEOPLE. None of them! It's a sad commentary on social media and how easily people will believe anything with the smallest of suggestion. |

No wealthy man is doing this show.
He doesn’t have to be wealthy there’s no shame in hard-working , or poor being wealthy, doesn’t make you an amazing human being at all. I think this show was just a first of its kind people expect more from seniors I guess none of us are perfect. We all have skeletons and whatever we don’t know about this man people just assume or make up. He walks this earth just like the rest of us do Broken That’s life Everybody just turned him into something that he’s not |

Not surprising, since we now know he didn't have a successful career. Which probably also means his social security income isn't great either. He saw GB as a golden ticket, which I can understand. He's now much more financially comfortable, and also is enjoying the fame. Plus he's clearly a serial monogamist, just not very good at it. Or jumped into a relationship too soon after his wife's death because he didn't want to be alone, had been in a sexless marriage for a while, wanted someone to contribute financially... Maybe a number of things. He does not seem very bright or to have a lot of emotional depth though and seems to be on the controlling side, if what his ex said his true. Hope he's nice to Theresa and not a total phony baloney. But since she's wealthy, skinny, and highly disciplined in all areas, maybe they're a perfect match. He and Leslie were not on any level. |

| Gerry has shown he's impulsive. He's like a kid in a candy store dating after his wife's death. A little unseemly but not that unusual. He jumps in too fast and then his feelings change and he suddenly seems cold and distant. We've seen it on the show. Giving his ex three months to vacate the lake house is very reasonable. I feel for her but he realized he wasn't in love with her, for reasons that surely didn't only have to do with weight, and it's a bit vindictive of her to put this out there. I'm not his biggest fan but there isn't all that much substance to the critique. He may even have made a mean comment about her weight, but guarantee there was a larger context and she's focusing only on the relatively small details that make him look bad. He is packaged by the producers in a certain way, and was told to lie to create a more compelling bereaved widower narrative. For $300K, many would be willing to fudge things too. |

Well, I am team girlfriend and the expression a woman scorned has a lot of merit. That’s true that nobody forced her to move into the lake house nobody forces anybody to move into anybody’s house but when you are led down the Primrose path and told you are loved and tell the parents he loves her and will marry her that’s a very different story that’s why living together is total bogus nonsense And nobody should do that without some kind of commitment . Jerry’s generation they weren’t living together. I’m a little younger than Jerry and women were not moving in with their boyfriends without a commitment for that reason so he did it to use her, try her on and he changed his mind. Well that’s his bad not her fault, she has every right to be angry and now he’s getting all these accolades and people think he’s the prince of America and she probably wants everybody to know he’s not because he isn’t. |

| She was foolish to make big life changes and move out to the middle of nowhere without an engagement in place. She was old enough to know better. He just wanted the convenience of having a live-in GF, and then it didn't work out and she ended up with nada. |
