| I'm actually kind of surprised getting them has remained so fashionable for so long. I thought back in the day that we reached peak tattoo trendiness with tramp stamps and tribal. Doesn't show any signs of slowing down with all the insta/tiktok influencers though. |
Sounds like my grandma who wondered why everyone was putting holes in their earlobes!! |
| I'm not seeing too many obviously heavily tatted people under the age of 30. Also surprised this trend has gone on so long, but am ok with whatever people want to do as long as it doesn't affect me. |
Just NFL, nba and w nba are all tattooed up. It’s scary and intimidating. And ugly. |
Lies! And certainly untrue based on social media. |
I'm seeing this as well. Was also surprised this trend has run so long, but I think some younger people have figured out good tattooing is expensive. |
This is what I am seeing as well. I know attorneys with tattoos, doctors with tattoos, successful tattoo artists...I think it might depend on where people live but I don't consider tattoos "trashy" unless they are poorly done. |

My SIL took her underage DS (using his brother’s ID as a fake) to get his first tattoo.
Pardon me for saying - it’s absolutely ghastly-an American flag with an eagle across his bicep. My nephew was planning on enlisting, but never did. He’s now 20 and every year has added more tattoos. Now he has more across both thighs and just got a new one across gis ribcage. My DD got a gross tribal tattoo at her breastbone. She just paid to enlarge it for her 25th birthday. It’s also ugly and gross and a bruisey blue color. In both my DD and my nephew there’s an element of wanting attention and being rebellious. |
| I have come to associate excessive tattooing in visible places with being stuck making minimum wage forever. Yeah, I know doctors, attorneys and other professionals with tattoos, but they are in locations that can easily be covered up. My DH has one from 20 years ago that has faded and blurred. He is now very happy it is not in a visible location (unless he's at the beach). There are going to be a lot of really awful looking heavily tattooed 50 year olds walking around in 25 years. |

I”m okay with tattoos for the most part, but after too many, I don’t like the look. A few here or there all good.
BUT can someone explain the leg tattoo thing on women? I’m sure men do this too, but I notice it more on women (I’m sure that is some hidden sexism/misogyny). But the leg/thigh tattoos, typically make the women’s thighs look HUGE and I have no clue why any woman would want that. I get that I’m too old for this trend, but it just seems to make even skinner women look fat in the thighs. |
| The woman who did my micro needling last week also does tattoo removal. She said when her kids get to be teens she is going to have them observe a tattoo removal so they can see how painful it is and also how it doesn’t really erase the tattoo and it changes your skin texture. I thought that was interesting. |

I’m 35 and I think this as well! |
| I don't mind them, honestly. I have a small one and am getting another, as is my DD. But, unfortunately, many of them are just ugly and not a lot of thought as to how the art all works together (or how it will look when they are 80+ years old). But "not my monkey, not my circus." |
