| how do you wash? just soap? with one of those sponges or loofah? i never feel fresh and think i am doing something wrong! |

I use a mesh poof, which I am confident is leading to the downfall of the environment and probably needs to be machine washed regularly, and shower gel/liquid soap. Bar soap makes more soap scum on our glass shower door.
For areas that don’t seem as clean, I pay extra attention or use special soap or scrubs. I feel like deodorant can build up and not wash off so I use a tiny bit of my husbands face wash (which is a bit stronger than mine and had some chemical exfoliation) or a body scrub in my arm pits. For feet, sometimes I just do a separate pump of soap and scrub my feet well with my hands - don’t want feet germs on my shower poof. For private parts, mainly just water with the handheld sprayer with soap on the outer regions. If you feel like there are specific issues, Kaia Naturals makes some specific area soaps https://www.kaianaturals.com/ The founder is Madame Sweat on Instagram and details best solutions for hygiene issues. |

Every so often this question comes up and turns into a heated debate. If you’re white and aren’t using a washcloth, start there.

| Mesh bath pouf thing and bar soap. Lather up the pouf and scrub, scrub, scrub. You get exfoliated and clean. |
| Use a washcloth for goodness sake. |
The white people not using washcloths is the funniest stereotype about white people I've heard. I am white and I use a washcloth, but my, also white, dh does not. I bring up the stereotype to him now and then and tell him he's proving people right. See also: white people don't close their blinds/don't use window coverings. |
I have never understood the washcloth debate. I am white and grew up using a wash cloth, as did my white DH. However, as an adult, I for a time switched to a loofah, and then eventually realized that I think I do a better job cleaning with just my hands. Eventually my DH also came around to this way of thinking. Obviously we are using soap. To be the washcloth or loofah was superfluous. The main thing it's offering is exfoliation, but you can also exfoliate using a scrub, exfoliating gloves, or dry brushing (all of which I've done, dry brushing works best for me). Eventually I just decided I didn't want to deal with the laundry/cleanliness issue of the washcloth (you have to hang it to dry so you aren't putting something damp in the hamper, then have enough washcloths on hand to have a fresh one daily -- it's just a pain). How does a washcloth get you cleaner than just soap and water? |

For the last year or two I’ve been using one of those Japanese exfoliating towels in the shower - I wash it weekly with the other towels, using a mesh bag to put it in when it goes through the washer so it doesn’t get stuck on everything else.
Goshi is the brand of the one I use, I got it on Amazon. I have dry skin so I use a sensitive skin body wash with the towel, which exfoliates nicely but doesn’t overly exfoliate. I’ve also become much more religious about using oil (almond) or lotion after my shower. My skin is looking and feeling very good, my GP even commented on it at my last annual exam. |
| I hate washcloths. I do use the erase your face one on my face though. I like bar soap. |

I like a natural sponge and Dr Bronner’s.

Soap in a bag that is a little scrubby. Absorbant washcloths/sponges creep me out - seems like instamildew.
This is the best one I’ve found. Dries quickly and cleanly with no mildew. https://www.etsy.com/listing/846533163/ |

Hands and soap. I'm Asian, and a biologist. Your hands won't get "dirty", they're full of soap. Soap breaks apart the outer membrane of bacteria and explodes them.
There is no need for any accessory, unless you're not flexible enough to wash your own back, in which case you get a brush with a handle or something. If you *want* a cute accessory, just for fun, sure, go ahead. But they tend to get moldy and full of bacteria... |
| Bar of soap, usually French milled or whatever they have at Trader Joe’s or Kirk’s Castile soap depending on where I happen to be shopping. |
| Bar of soap and loofah for my armpits. Hands don’t get the deodorant off. |
| Use hands and dove moisturizing bar. Focus on the face, hands, puts, butt, priv parts. When I shave I use shower gel. Otherwise minimal soap on skin and don’t take long showers which will dry you out. |
