Your favorite of the slightly nicer bathing suit brands

I'm scared to even post this because I am very cheap usually when it comes to myself and my clothes. Most of my stuff is from Loft, Old Navy, and Costco. Yes, really.

BUT, we are taking a milestone 20th anniversary splurge trip to Hawaii this summer. I was thinking I'd like to buy myself a slightly nicer bathing suit or two to celebrate. On Facebook the Summersault ones are cute - are they any good? I'm willing to spend up to $120 or so per bathing suit.

Where should I look for this? I also looked at Athleta but they didn't have many patterns, which I think I want.

Please be nice to me! I don't normally splurge on myself and this is hard for me.

I think it mainly depends on what size you are.

If you’re thin with a smaller bust, you can buy whatever kind you want.

If you’re larger, especially larger chested, you want to focus on the brands that have the most fit and support options.

I have a larger bust and have bought myself a couple of expensive bathing suits but honestly I really like lands end and end up buying one or two when I need them. They have some cute patterns and a lot of variety in fit. I don’t buy anything else from lands end.

Are you going to be active? I love Carve designs, they have a lot of prints and solids, all styles of tops and bottoms. They provide support without looking matronly.

I have a couple of somersault suits I bought after gaining some pandemic weight. They have held up nicely and are fairly flattering if you have extra weight around your stomach.

It really depends on your body type.

OP here. I am 5'5" and about 125 pounds but not super toned and have a slight mom pooch. B cup. In clothes I am a 4/6. I am mainly looking at (hopefully) flattering 1 pieces in nice patterns. Not planning to do more than a leisurely swim or paddle board/kayak. Kids are teens and don't need assistance in the water.

I really like Zimmermann swim. You can get them cheaper if you look at Poshmark or the Outnet. Something like this? https://www.theoutnet.com/en-us/shop/product/zimmermann/swimwear-beachwear/one-piece/belted-swimsuit/1647597319838316

La Blanca

Sea Level

Robin Piconne

Trina Turk

Melissa Odabash

Some of those get more expensive than what you’re looking for but you can always look at sales.

I recently bought a couple of J Crew swimsuits that worked out well. Check them out.

Also, when I think of lots of options with regard to swimwear, I think of Venus. Plenty of one-piece options in patterns: https://www.venus.com/products.aspx?BRANCH=24~97~

Why would anyone be mean to you about this? It’s just a request for swimsuit recommendations.

Andie. Check out the Tulum. It's incredibly flattering on -- it sucks me in and provides amazing lift for my chest, plus good butt coverage, yet the leg opening is higher cut in front so it doesn't look dowdy and the back is really sexy.

I like to wait for sales and deals. Sign up for their emails/texts (you can cancel once you've bought what you want) and watch out for new colors and sales. Good luck! I made the leap to more expensive swimwear last summer and I shouldn't have waited this long! I feel so much better at the pool and beach about my middle age, postpartum (but still very fit and attractive) body. It's just nice to be wearing something high quality that shapes a little while also having higher end details that keep it from looking mumsy.

Are you new here? DCUM is mean about some of the most innocuous things and the original poster is always at "fault."
