| I know that there haven't been any official digital SATs for non-international students yet but for those kids who have taken digital practice tests were their scores similar to their paper scores? DC just took a practice and it was significantly different... |
| Will ACT turn to a digital format eventually too? |
| DSAT is much shorter now due to it being an adaptive test. Lots of other advantages. ACT will need to adjust to be competitive |
My kid took the paper in December-1360. Did some Khan Academy prep and took a practice digital from the College Board site and got a 1500. Will try another one soon. |
Yes. They're testing it now in certain markets. When my son registered for the ACT next month the website asked him if he wanted to take it digitally if that was available in his area. He said no because he wanted a paper test so I'm not sure if it was an option for him (here in the DMV) |
This is similar to our experience...our DS said he could never finish the paper version but is able to finish the digital one, which makes his score go up a ton even though the content is similar. |
Except both of you are talking about "practice" test scores. Come back when they've taken the real thing. |
| DD’s score went down 70 points from paper PSAT9 (fall of 9th) to digital PSAT (fall of 10th). DD tends to work fast and smart but sometimes makes careless errors. Anecdotally it seems like that’s the kind of kid whose score is most likely to go down, just because the number of questions is smaller so each careless error hurts more. |
| My kid seems to do worse on digital (based on PSAT scores - paper in 10th and digital in 11th). I wish she had taken the SAT earlier so she would have had time to take another paper but instead she needs to prepare for the digital now. |
Well duh. No digital real test has been offered in our area yet. Apples to apple though - highest score by far is practice digital vs practice old paper. |
| Digital is better for kids who work more slowly and have trouble finishing. Paper is better for the ones who have a tendency to rush and make silly mistakes. |
No one cares |
This sounds reasonable to me. I lived through the paper to digital GMAT transition year, and I concentrated a lot on being accurate in the early to middle part of the digital test so I wouldn't get bumped to the lower scoring path. It worked. |
Not just shorter, but I’m hearing there is more time to complete the answers. Levels the playing field for all those who can’t afford a neuropsych eval or aren’t willing to game the system to get extra time. |
OP cares. You seem confused. |
