| If you could only save one person your spouse or your child, who would you save? I would save my child. DW took it very personal when I said that. The discussion came after she was raving about how one of her friends’ husband said he would put his wife before his children. I said good for him I will save our child first. For context though our marriage has been rocky so perhaps my response had to do with it. |
| We both would expect the other to save the child. Lets hope we never have to find out. |
| My wife. |
| My wife would be really pissed off if I saved her instead of saving our kids |
| My child. |
| Child. |
| This is an interesting question. My guess is in the western world folks would save their wives first. |
| Child hands down. Not even a second thought. |
| Husband |

I’d save my child, mostly because I believe my partner is a competent adult and my child isn’t.
I guess if this isn’t a skills test, I’d also save my child. My spouse has had a chance to experience things in life, my child hasn’t. Is this some kind of those weird love /loyalty tests? If my spouse was doing one of those to me, they’d be the first to go, every time. |
Your DW may have come from a broken home where she wasn’t love herself. |
| The dependent child |
|
The one that’s not mentally or physically handicapped. If both, the younger one.
Most parents would sacrifice themselves for their child to live on. |
|
My kids because my husband would never forgive me otherwise, and he would also choose the kids over me for the same reason.

You’re confusing saving your wife or child versus your old father or mother. Some cultures’ adults are guilted into saving the elderly at the expense of the current and next generation. |
