Been eating so well for a month.
Tons of nuts Sardines and other oily fish No red meats, pasta, rice, bread or booze Tons of fruits and veggies Natto High quality matcha BP is down 8 to 10 points already and I’m feeling a lot less bloated overall. |
| That's awesome! I always feel great when I consistently eat clean. Have you lost any weight? |
A couple of pounds - about 4. Not a huge amount, but I’m feeling good. Slow and steady. I need to keep cals up because I like to lift heavy weights at the gym. I do cardio and weights everyday. |
| Can you share your age and gender? What do you eat with the fish? In a salad? |
38M Sardines are usually stored in olive oil - eat straight with nothing else. Any other fish is usually baked or grilled with a little bit of salt or miso paste, herbs, lemon, that’s about it. Salads are almost always butter lettuce or romaine, throw in some spinach, carrots, avocado, and tomato. Light dressing of choice. Also love salads with beets, nuts, and strawberries with balsalmic. Blood pressure was 133/90 in Nov. Tried eating a lot cleaner and doing more cardio. I’m down to 120-125/ low 80s now. Still work to do, but eating a lot more nuts, leafy greens, and cutting back on so much meat/processed carbs has definitely helped. |
| Yes. It's how I live. I look at least 15 years younger than my peers, and I am thinner and fitter than most of them. Keep it up. |
What is this exactly? I googled it, looks like some kind of soy product? how do you use it? what does it taste like? What are the benefits? |
Natto are soybeans fermented with lactobacillus. A lot of westerners can't get over the texture and taste, but I love it (am western). It just has a nutty and earthy flavor. You eat on a small amount of rice and add the small soy packet they usually come with. Natto is one of the only known and one of the richest sources of nattokinase and it tons of stuff like K2, manganese, and many other minerals and fiber. Very good for gut health, reducing blood pressure, and combating high cholesterol. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC9616652/ https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/27927636/ https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC6043915/ https://www.nature.com/articles/s41430-020-00732-1 For many people, it may take getting used to natto because they might find it unpleasant, but I had no problem eating it. Very easy to eat for breakfast, like they do in Japan, and it is filling for a low amount of calories. |
| Natto. Even in Japan people either like it or hate it. I’m in the hate it and it smells like butt crowd. |
I know how I'm supposed to parse your reply, and yet my brain really wants to know what "butt crowd" smells like now.
|
Honestly, there is probably a word for that in Japanese. My brother visited me in Tokyo and he likes natto. I just can’t. |

Lifelong vegetarian here. I have high cholesterol, so am looking to clean up my diet.
How do you prepare and eat natto? Any recipes you like? I've never heard of it, but am intrigued. |
Just go to H mart or Ranch 99. They have frozen packs. You open, remove the soy packet, and simply microwave for about 45 seconds to a minute. Serve over some rice and add the soy. You can lots of other condiments or add it to soup or something. I eat it very fast in the morning instead of consuming processed cereals, pastries, or other sugar laden stuff. |
omg that this is in your head - i'm so glad you are not my friend 🤣 |
| balsalmic vinegar contains lead. |
