| Best romantic cities worldwide to stay in luxury hotels for around $500/600 a night? Recommend your favorite hotels and cities! Hotels have gone insane since Covid. I checked a few resorts in the Caribbean we have stayed at and prices used to be around this and are now $2000 a night for the lowest room category. Insane! Anyone else notice how bad hotels are? |

I don't know how far you're willing to travel, but certain parts of Asia are great for this. Specifically the Taj and Oberoi hotels in India are what I'm familiar with, and they are truly another level from anything I've experienced in the U.S. - with the caveat that I don't ever stay at places like Aman resorts. But I was at a NYC Ritz last month and Taj/Oberoi make that look like a Courtyard Marriott. The Taj hotels in Jaipur and in Udaipur (both tourist areas) are the most beautiful ones I've seen but you can't really go wrong with any of them.
I also stayed at an amazing resort in Phuket last year (The Slate) for a week and it cost $1200 for the accommodations (ate most meals there and got massages, etc., so the total cost was about $2500 for two). It was gorgeous and plenty luxe for me, although there are definitely more expensive ones. |
| go to south east asia. the Mandarin Oriental in KL is very nice and like $300 a night! Bangkok will have nice ones too. |
Just stayed there and the service was incredible, it’s a great location, and even more importantly: one of my favorite Asian hotel breakfast buffets anywhere. Other recs: Raffles in Siem Reap. Gorgeous property, stunning pool, overwhelmingly good service and a much lower price than other Raffles properties. Four Seasons Langkawi or Singapore. You’d get a very different experience (beach vs. city) depending on which property but both are the kind of places where if you step out of a room for 10 minutes you’ll come back to whatever you dropped being folded and a bookmark slid into the book you left face-down. I love Four Seasons properties because they have generous travel benefits for their employees so they have great perspective and advice. The employees are so knowledgeable and well-trained. Everyone down to the housekeepers and pool attendants had sophisticated local knowledge, recommendations, and experiences to share. |
Wow, I love that. |
| Dubai and Abu Dhabi are surprisingly cheap for hotels. We are doing a stooover and was pleasantly surprised how cheap the hotels are. St Regis hotels are like $500 in Dubai and even cheaper in Abu Dhabi. Many other really nice luxurious accommodations for even cheaper. |
| The Four Seasons Budapest is nice - get a river view room |

Pp again. We are stopping on our way to Asia.
Southeast Asia is very cheap. We went to Seoul and Japan last year and Seoul was also very affordable. Not sure how romantic it is. Japan was expensive. |
I was going to say the Ritz Carlton in Budapest. We stayed in a suite there - very affordable and very nice |
| Amman Jordan - amazing city and very nice lux hotels that are a great rate |
I worked for the Four Seasons for a long time and agree with all of this. Wish I could go back! |
That is so cool! Thanks for sharing |
