Nancy Pelosi had priests perform an exorcism on her house in the wake of the brutal attack that left her husband Paul hospitalized, her daughter told The New York Times. “I think that weighed really heavy on her soul. I think she felt really guilty. I think that really broke her,” Pelosi’s daughter Alexandra told Times columnist Maureen Dowd. Apparently Nancy thinks evil spirits or demonic creatures are in her home. |
So you’re unfamiliar with Catholicism |
| Oddly, this has never come up before. I suppose it's because her specifically religious beliefs are not the driving purported rationale for the policy she promotes. |
| Is there something we are supposed to do with this information? |
I thought the Vatican had to approve exorcism, and it was rarely approved. The process takes many months, if not longer, because clear and consistent evidence must be presented for an exorcism to be approved. |

She feels guilty about spirits in her home?
Did she invite them in? |
You’re thinking of vampires |
It’s all just nonsense anyway, but if it helps her feel safe after a home intrusion then who cares? |
| Here's the thing: Nancy Pelosi is a legitimately religious woman. Unlike all of the fake Republicans. |
No; demonic activity can be encouraged or discouraged by believing humans. Nancy feels guilty, according to her daughter. I wonder if the exorcism helped? |
You're conflating the exorcism of a person with that of a home. You don't need to go through all of that for a home. It's far less complicated. https://adw.org/about-us/resources/request-an-exorcism/ |
You don’t know who is legit religious; only God knows that. I can imagine if a republican had their home exorcised, what people would think and say, though. |
|
Is it possible that she simply asked a priest to come and bless her home by saying a prayer and maybe sprinkling some holy water?
That sounds way more likely than an exorcism. It is not at all uncommon for Catholics to have a home blessing ceremony when they move into a new house or, in this case, when something bad has happened there. |
The Rite of Exorcism is a sacramental of the Catholic Church whereby “the Church asks publicly and authoritatively in the name of Jesus Christ that a person or object be protected against the power of the Evil One and withdrawn from his dominion” (Catechism of the Catholic Church #1673). It is “directed at the expulsion of demons or to the liberation from demonic possession through the spiritual authority which Jesus entrusted to His Church (ibid.).” Ah, ok! |
No, her daughter specifically said an exorcism. Read the source. |
