5' 8" and 140lbs female age 34- considered average, overweight or thin?

Just curious what others think.

Thin. Maybe average depending on shape and build, but definitely on the thinner side.

average but on the thinner side.

average, but agree that it depends on the build.

Does depend somewhat on build, but I would say thinner than average. Absolutely not, in any universe except for high fashion modeling, overweight.

I would say right where you should be. If you are small boned, perhaps slightly (5lbs) over, but not if you have a lot of muscle. If larger boned, you are slim.

I am about your height (just under 5'9) and I look my best about 140 and fit. I am larger boned and curvy. I currently am about 155 and I still wear a 4 or 6 in a skirt or dress. 8 in jeans. Everyone's body type is so different. I would like to lose about 10 at this point in my life. No one ever believes I weigh as much as I do.

My doctor said her main concern is fitness.

I"m 5'4" and weight 150, but I fit easily into a size 6. No one has ever called me fat. I'm not skinny skinny but I am very, very athletic. You've got 4 inches on me and weigh 10 lbs less . . . unless you are all flabby muscle tone, I think you are fine.

I'm 5' 8" and 152 pounds and I feel a little overweight.

I'm 5'8" and my ideal weight (for me, where I look best) is 160, which makes me a size 10.

This is OP - Thanks for your opinions everyone. My whole life I have been considered thin and I'm the sort of person most women hate because I don't watch what I eat and don't exercise (except yoga once every week or two). I have a small frame (not big-boned) and am NOT curvy at all (wish I was!). Over the past 5 years, I've very gradually put on about 10 lbs. Prior to that I hadn't gained weight since my teen years - even after two kids I lost all my baby weight right away. I have been feeling insecure and fishing for compliments lately. I work full time and have been struggling with motivating myself to fit exercise in my routine and trying to eat better. I can see how some people end up with eating disorders - it's difficult to determine how others see you.

this is ridiculous.
are all the 140lbs sharing the inside of your skull with your brain?
how come you think by watching numbers in this anonymous forum we can answer this ridiculous question?

Sounds thin and healthy to me. I weigh the same and I'm quite a bit shorter.

f you're feeling off your game a bit, I wouldn't worry for a second about losing weight. Maybe just add a bit more muscle tone with a bit more yoga or sit ups/push ups. I find that tightening things up always make me feel better, even if the scale stays the same.

What is your body composition? (i.e., What is the fat %.?) That's the key. I'm 5 foot 7. I have been a flabby 135 and a completely fit 135.
