No, not really. I would have a much bigger problem with this if it involved anything other than a sports banner. We are all entitled to hang what we want but you have to be daft (and also have a pretty attitude IMHO) to not know you are inviting trouble. Please write back when the crime doesn't involve sports. I will be on your side then. I promise you.

I think both of you are pretty ridiculous. In the first post, the suggestion of misogyny seems far-fetched, to say the least. And in the second post, the suggestion that she somehow deserved this because it's a rival team (read, nto the Redskins) is absurd. There is not some separate rule for sports banners - this is exactly the same as if her bike was stolen from her front porch three separate times. (Although if you're suggesting that Redskins fans are either so morally deficient or criminally stupid that this behavior shoudl be expected of them - you make a compelling point.)

For the record, I've criticized the homeowner numerous times because of her overblown rhetoric and hysteria. But let's be clear - she has every right to be irritated and upset, and every right to expect her property won't be vandalized or stolen. To say that she somehow deserved or invited this really is silly (although I admit, I probably wouldn't have replaced it the second time).

I didn't realize Florida jails let inmates use computers. George, you probably should lay low and hope you get a hung jury.

I am certain the police view this crime very differently than they view others.

Get a dog. Problem solved. You're welcome.

Exactly.

Stealing a banner from someone's house is not okay. If it were my house, would I be pissed? Absolutely.

Is this a "serious theft"? "Stalking"? "Really scary"?

Ummm..... no.

The only "really scary" thing here is the OP's lack of perspective.

I'd say that the trespassing alone is somewhat scary.

I'm not a sports fan and appreciate neither Pittsburgh nor even Cleveland Park, but I wouldn't want anyone creeping onto my property to handle my stuff.

I agree. Stealing that banner from her house was not OK and I hope they catch him. Making this into the long treatise that is the OP's post and making more out of it than there is is also not OK. Libby, you are obviously not a reasonable person so this will fall on deaf ears:

Keep it short and simple and understand that people would be on your side if you didn't blow things out of proportion.

Also, six cameras? Wow. You must either really feel unsafe or you will do anything to ensure the safety of your Steelers banner!

Maybe just something in the window next time.

Next time leave the jerkiness out and just say: I wouldn't want anyone creeping onto my property to handle my stuff.

I think everyone would agree it is "annoying". Few seem to agree that it is "scary". Given that the victim put up the last banner with a camera nearby, thus anticipating another theft, she appears not to be scared about it, either. Or else she would not have hung it outside to begin with.

Interesting perspective. I had not thought of that.

Yes, this would be scarier if she had just happened to catch it with her security cameras the first time instead of baiting the trap a second and third time.

I do feel for her and if she really does feel violated that is not cool. However, I don't think anybody who writes that way or does what she does has any real feelings only a sense of the world being against them. Sad. I'll bet the next one is up again soon and she will end up confronting the person. I hope she thinks the better of it and just buys herself a new Nike jersey.

Actually, she doesn't even seem like a sports fan.
