Serious Cleveland Park Theft

I see that house all the time. Totally thought it was a rental. Hahahaha.

Thank you Robber!

Hmmm, I'd be willing to hire that guy to help out w/ my neighbor's annual nativity scene! Although it is politically correct w/ both a white and black baby Jesus, it's seen better days.

It may be politically correct, but implying that Mary got around like that is seriously sacrilegious. Do the lord's work, pp, and right that situation. You just might save a soul.

Please, world, know that not all of us in CP are this brand of crazy.

Do you have any idea how hard it would be to hang and take town a huge banner every night??? She shouldn't have to! She should expect to not be robbed and have the other neighbors full support in catching and prosecuting this guy.

GUARANTEED you would feel different if he stole some high dollar thing from your yard.

Yeah. Generally in the district you will see the occasional public art support (donkey, elephant or panda), tasteful sculptures, native country flags (there are several lovely union jacks around town) or the American flag (including penants on the fourth) being displayed in the front yard/porch, or the occasional university flag (the Duke flag in Woodley Park comes to mind.) Halloween decorations are perfectly fine if they are tasteful and taken down the day after Halloween. Wreaths and candles are fine during holidays but should not be displayed past the new year. Menorahs, also, perfectly fine. Holiday lights are fine if done tastefully or put up by a service that does a good job.

Football banners? Not so much.

Of course we enjoy attending sporting events (as long as it's on the firm's dime) and we even feign interest in local teams (with the exception of hockey, which we genuinely enjoy.) However we do not display these sorts of things because they're gauche. The tacky and tasteless department also includes inspirational banners (ie "Happy Days" or "Celebrate Life" or some other sacchrine saying in pastel colors,) and lawn ornaments.

I'm sure other communities in the area, such as Burke, Springfield or Gaithersburg have the the "live and let live" attitude our Steelers fan seeks. However in D.C. it's not advisable to let "Your Freak Flag Fly," as TMBG say, or it will get stolen, repeatly.

If this is "really scary stuff" in your book, you clearly haven't lived here long. For the love of the biracial jesuses, woman, it's a freaking ugly sports banner.

What about the giant inflatable Capital (of the hockey variety) that was on top of the house in Georgetown throughout the playoffs. I really liked it. I agree with you on pastel colored anything, except maybe at easter.

I agree with PP that said to electrify it. Nothing serious, just a nice shock should do the trick.

Are you fucking stupid? It's not the freaking sports banner. It's the fact that someone invades another person's property at night when they're sleeping night after night.

I'm not fucking stupid. It's fucking stupid to consider a stolen sports banner "really scary stuff."

And if you don't get that, YOU'RE fucking stupid.

FWIW - THIS IS NOT A VIOLENT CRIME and the rabid videotape-ette keeps baiting them. I'm not sure what she thought was going to happen after the second time.

You are fucking stupid because you can't think laterally. You're hung up on the item that was stolen not the method and the brazen act of someone to climb a fence, walk through a backyard up to a house to steal something over and over again. That's scary. But you're too dumb to realize that.

It's not what was stolen that is important. It's the fact some someone has repeatedly jumped a fence and been on another's property in the middle of the night. I'd be worried about that too.

Here's the security camera footage of the thief in action. Maybe someone recognizes this guy?
