oh, i am most definitely NOT reading it. I clicked on most of these recs to check them out. That one is by far the worst. Boring. Bad writing. Incredibly repetitive. I got sucked in to some of the others though. I loved the Nonsense and frippery one!! Besides a lovely story, that girl is funny! |
I did the same - checked out all the blogs listed. The Nonsense one is great. Same with Stimey. I lliked the butihavealawdegree one, but I'm not a lawyer, so couldn't relate as much. |
Shannon, have you ever thought about daycare? I am convinced that lawyer moms who use nannies have a much higher chance of needing to drop out of their careers. Also, are you trying to be anonymous in your blog, because you are actually not being very anonymous. Best of luck to you! |
So I had to check out her blog and read this recent gem from her: "I have always been skinny. In the "I bet she has an eating disorder" kind of skinny. I was just built that way - a genetic gift. In fact, when I was younger I used to try to force feed myself to ward off demeaning comments. Suffice it to say, before kids, I never gave my weight a second thought. I know, I hate the former me too. " This made me: 1) not want to read anymore and 2) happy because she now is fat! |
This thread makes me sad. I don't really have time to read blogs much, but when I do...
The blogs that I really like to read Monsters and Wired Momma - I read because I stumbled on to because I found something in the writers or writing that makes me relate to them. If they are local (as these two are) I figure they would come here - and I would feel bad about myself if I posted nasty things about them for them to see. I spend the small amount of free time that I have going to their sites because I enjoy the info they have chosen to share about their personal life (amusing) and because there is information that I can take away (borrow, steal) to make my life and my children's life better (craft/ideas). Yes - as a blogger they choose to share their lives with you, but some of you are unsually harsh. I guess it's just because you're so perfect and have it all together and so figured out. Feel free to share your blogs and we can judge your lives. |
I'm sure you are a wonderful person! |
It's Monica - Wired Momma here - I am so happy to see some new people have found my site through these threads. I really appreciate the voices of support for WM woven into these threads and hope others will come check out my blog. I am local, I wrote the parenting blog for Washingtonian mag for the past few months as well, and I typically make fun of myself, post on events in the area and have recently launched an expert series - where I plan to feature local moms who are experts in certain areas that most of us care about. This week's expert post is on summer hair trends, last week's was more serious on maternity leave, pregnancy discrimination, nursing at work. Next week - advice from a local mom who is a travel expert. So please - join the fun: www.wiredmomma.com
- And yes - us bloggers are seeing these threads because we are seeing links to our blogs from here. |
Monica - love your blog. Just wanted to turn this negative thread around. Keep at it! You crack me up. |
This is Darcy from http://bedtimemonsters.blogspot.com/ (No Monsters) and your post made me so happy. The tone of this thread has really depressed me, so thank you for the kind words. |
I just started a blog for The Washington Post called On Parenting: http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/on-parenting
I promise I don't drone on about me and my kids -- it's newsy and topical. Check it out! |
I just found www.rockvillemom.com. It's just getting started, but local |
