I have a mom blog AND i read mom blogs. I don't think most mom blogs are about bragging about your great parenting skills (though some are). Rather mom blogs can be a great resource to find things to do and projects for your kids. Plus they let you know different people's perspectives. I've never read anything that depresses people more than the comments on DC Urban Moms, so if you're avoiding Mom Blogs out of happiness concerns then I highly suggest you get off this list serve.

Damn, I was going to use that. Guess I'll have to go with my second choice, "ninetyfourpercentofpeopleindchavealawdegreetoo."

What does this have to do with anything? I don't even know this woman and I feel like I need to defend her honor.
I have read her blog before, and the whole reason she started this blog was becaus she wanted to write about her post biglaw experience. So naming it that had nothing to do with the fact that there are a billion other lawyers out there. I get that this site is anonymous and so people feel like they can be nasty with impunity, but maybe try to remember that there are real people behind these blogs.

And I've done biglaw and I've been a SAHM and I really enjoy reading her blog because I can totally relate. And the first few months out of biglaw were like detox to me. It was all I could think about. But good luck to you two. You seem super awesome.

I couldn't agree more!!

Wow, even the most innocent of threads can get nasty. I happen to like butidohavealawdegree, but that's just me.

I also really like http://nonsenseandfrippery.blogspot.com (also written by an attorney). She doesn't post that often, but a good read. She had a premature baby and really eloquently detailed her experience.

Totally Wired Momma! She knows how to make fun of herself and her mistakes. It's too bad Washingtonian stopped her blog for them on their site.

Oh lighten up, there's no reason for you to get all worked up over people poking fun at the name of a blog.

Haha...I actually hate her blog as well (as a mother of 3 little ones AND a FT biglaw attorney). Mostly b/c I just don't find her particularly witty or smart. Not enough substance in there for me, but that is just me. I just don't find it interesting to hear about other people ranting and raving about the same old tired "biglaw sucks b/c I have to check my BB constantly". I read a couple of posts and then just stopped.

I also just can't get over the fact that she f*ed the other female attorneys at her firm by taking full maternity leave and the telling her firm - at the very end of her second leave - that she wasn't going back. I find it ridiculously selfish and lacking of all class...

I know many of you will or do hate it (judging by your posts) but I am getting a lot out of http://freerangekids.wordpress.com

Took some advice there last night and today all three of my kids made their own lunches (5, 7, 9) they did great. All I did was wipe down the counter, check inside and we were off. Saved a good 10 minutes for me and they we're very happy. Small victory I know.

Now you need to lighten up. I am also in biglaw and I know a ton of women who have done this. It's just par for the course - every time someone goes on maternity leave it's always anybody's guess whether they will ever come back.

You are full time at a law firm AND have three little kids? You probably don't like the blog because you can't relate to the author. Some of us out there actually want to spend time with our children.

ME-OW! Are you the butihave author? If not, why such a bitchy comment? If you are, I have to break it to you that eating hot dogs is not a sound weight loss plan. LOL
