Unintended consequences of "pro-life" policies. The "forced birthers" are causing forced birth of dead babies.

Pregnant patients have “become radioactive to emergency departments” in states with extreme abortion restrictions, said Sara Rosenbaum, a George Washington University health law and policy professor.

“They are so scared of a pregnant patient, that the emergency medicine staff won’t even look. They just want these people gone," Rosenbaum said.

That seems to violate federal law. Why is it that forced birthers have no problem going after hospitals, but prochoice advocates are cowards?

Because it’s much more advantageous for the current administration for us to be outraged than for us to admire the swift and decisive legal action they took to protect their citizens.

Who is “they”?

The Biden-Harris administration and the Justice departing that works for them.

What is this swift legal action you’d like to see?
Are you familiar with our court system?
It’s not exactly … quick.

I am! And I’ve posted this elsewhere but if the FBI came in and demanded the records of every woman who had been turned away from healthcare, and the DoJ started a civil rights investigation into each one who was from a protected class to see whether she had been treated differently based on her race (looking at you Florida…) then hospitals would be making a very different legal calculus than they are now where the only legal hazard is treatment, it’s risk-free to send women to the parking lot to almost die.

The FBI is as wrecked and ruined with right wingers as many other agencies and certainly has no interest in investigating such crimes. We saw how they treated the US gymnasts, letting them twist with the sexual assaulter in their midst. If it’s a crime against women, it seems to be okay by them.

So vote Democratic because Wray was a Trump nominee and we see how that’s playing out.

Anti-abortion states are targeting EMTALA - SCOTUS will hear oral arguments Wednesday.

As a woman I would always be pro choice but may be high numbers of unwanted pregnancies reflect light on need of better educating women and men about abstinence and birth control.

Good thing the GOP supports evidence based sex ed - wait, they hate that too.

And also your point relevant on this thread. This is women who are in need of care as pregnant women and can’t get it, either for actual medical care, life and health saving abortions or labor and delivery. It’s not really about Janice who has two kids at home and whose husband didn’t pull out like he said he would or about Caitlyn whose birth control failed altogether or Robin who was raped. It’s about pregnant women just not being able to get medical care at all.

There are federal laws that hospitals which receive federal funds cannot turn ER patients away.

There are many married women getting abortions because they can't take care of another child; there are also those who get it for medical reasons.

Perhaps the GOP should support free birth control.

Or better yet, forced vasectomies. No abortion for those whores needed. Problem solved.

haha.. have you read through the Relationship forum which is littered with men mostly complaining about the lack of sex in their marriage?

I completely agree. I am 100% certain that I would be childless today if doctors had been forced to behave this way during my unexpectedly complicated pregnancies.

Also agree. These forced birther states are going to drive down their birth rates by making pregnancy more dangerous in these places. It is already dangerous enough.

That’s why birth control is next.

If only more men were willing to use condoms and take male birth control pills. Women aren't getting pregnant on their own.

Perhaps marital relationship counseling is key. And teaching our children how to become better partners.

That literally has F all to do with being denied needed healthcare because you are pregnant.

As posted upthread, this is being challenged by Idaho.

Part of the issue at least in Texas is many of these stand alone emergency rooms are a joke. Has anyone actually been to one? They’re glorified urgent cares not attached to a real hospital. I would be terrified to go to one of these if I had a real emergency obstetric or otherwise.

With the lack of availability of birth control and abortion , I wonder if douching and smoking cigarettes will become a thing again like the 1950s . That was the abortion or contraceptive technique back then from what I hear

Don’t tell me the forced birther movement isn’t meant to punish women because I won’t believe you. It’s intended to inflict maximum damage to the most women possible.
