Mom forgets coffee in microwave multiple times a week

OP, I think she needs a medical assessment.

My mil was in her mid-60's , still running her custom seamstress business, when she started making fabric cutting and measuring miscalculations...she would repeat a story to us multiple times...she got 'turned around' driving in the town she lived in for decades...she started having trouble swimming in their pool they had for 30 years...like I said she was not even really elderly. It was like there were these telltale signs, looking back.

It was dementia, it progressed rather quickly and she was deceased in a few years. Please at least get your mom checked out.

First of all 69 is not old.
There are certain things I forget frequently.
Everyone has their ‘thing’
And yea it is easy to ignore the beeping, it becomes white noise.
There’s garage near my office that has a makes a constant noise and it has become white noise to me, I’m barely conscious of it.
I’m still amazed you think 69 is really old.

This perceived notion of 69 being elderly and prone to dementia is very telling. This means everyone around this woman has some idea that this is expected and their confirmation bias is finding weird out of context stuff. I already feel sorry for this woman.

It's not confirmation bias to be concerned by symptoms that she is displaying. Dementia can and does onset in the 60's. At the very least, a medical assessment can confirm or rule it out.
