FWIW - my Harvard waitlist is legacy at Penn and Columbia and got rejected from both. These are different times.

Rejected at Princeton and Harvard. Kid is heartbroken. Said want to give up on academics and join the military. Accepted at a few safeties already. Very glad to have the closure. Only Umich postpone is left.

I'm so sorry. He must know how much of a longshot these were. Isn't there anything in between ultra reach and safety. I hope he can get excited about his options.

I’m sorry, but serious question - why did he have his heart set on these schools? Did he literally not know their acceptance rates?

Aww sorry- i still remember that skinny cream colored envelope from Brown in my mailbox in 1989. I wanted to go to there so badly! Hope he lands someplace that he loves and loves him back

Agree with this, a list should have included low reaches and targets, not just high reach lottery schools and safeties
