(Very) Discreet Nanny Cams

No it isn't. I hired a nanny with lots of experience and good references who abused my children. There were no signs.

That is very sad and I'm sorry. OP can have cameras, she just needs to be transparent about it.

OP, most people are less likely to do something wrong if they know they are on camera. Why would you want to catch them doing something wrong by recording them in secret rather than prevent them from doing something wrong by letting them know there is a camera?

OP has trust issues

Careful when your partner cheats on you

Again with the cameras. Karma will go back on you OP if you hide those cameras

I don't believe this because everybody who works with children knows there are cameras.

Just say you are putting security cameras in common areas of the home. I work in people's homes and this is a regular practice.

Hackers can watch and talk through the cameras. There's cases on YouTube

How did you find out about it?

I find it normal.

I mean the employer should offer full disclosure and tell the Nanny exactly where each camera is located.
It is only right.

To hide an undisclosed video camera 📹 and film a Nanny w/o disclosing this to her is starting the relationship on deception and this never bodes well for anyone.

Trust me > if someone finds out that you are filming them w/o offering full disclosure than they will leave!

So are you telling us your children were victims of child-abuse??

What was the outcome?
Did the Nanny have a trial, get convicted and is now serving time?

Anonymous wrote:Things can sometimes get weird even if a trusted nanny. We had one for awhile who I thought was great and trusted completely. Then one day I had a dad stop me at the neighborhood playground and say “I wanted to let you know I think your son (3) is a really great kid. Your nanny can be hard on him sometime, but he seems really great to me.” Obviously I was alarmed - did he mean she was stricter on behavior than he may be but still reasonable and handle calmly? Or angrily snapping at him? Or berating him? The said it as I was leaving with my kids so I couldn’t follow up with him to understand better.

The nanny knew we had cameras (contract said we could and each kids room had a nannit monitor so that’s very obvious). I briefly set up one in the common playroom so I could get a better sense of how she was treating him when alone so that I could address appropriately with her if needed. I’m not going to throw away a great nanny over a random virtual strangers comment, but I did need to verify that what I thought happened when I wasn’t around is what was actually happening

You sound paranoid.

You said a man stopped you at the playground……then you said he was a virtual stranger!!?

Why are you making stuff up on here?

Do you want to be videootaped 24/7 and not know for sure who is watching? It can cause anxiety.

You realize most public buildings, many private buildings - restaurants, stores, etc. have cameras.

But they're watching tons of other people, not just 1 person

This is absolutely true across the board.

We have all seen the news stories where a daycare worker or preschool employee was seen abusing a child or a group of children.

And it's a felony to hide cameras.
