So gross. She’s as bad as Trump selling Bibles.

If Jen couldn’t find peace and joy within a church she built literally in her own image and where she was the ultimate insider and leader and even there within those privileged circumstances only found confusion and hurt and “trauma” what chance do any of us have in our churches??

I'd be More surprised if someone could find peace in an institution built-in their own image.

today's Easter video is probably one of the most cloying videos she has ever made. It is so disingenuous. To act as if she is offering some sort of solace and companionship, while at the end, selling something, is snaky. all that smiling and cuteness-to try and cover up that she is actually filled with contempt for religion? Her words at the end of her post suggest contempt. She has a right to have those feelings, but it's mind-boggling how she tries to cover it up with being so sweet. You got contempt? Own it. don't try and sanitize it and then sell sell us all something.

Jeans and boots are very typical at Texas weddings especially outdoor weddings.

Jen absolutely her former audience, average everyday Christian women who haven’t “shifted” like she has.

Women who’ve been able to hold true to their old faith despite the world swirling around them, who’ve stayed faithful, married, and who’ve quietly done the work. Their very lives are an insult to her.

She hates them and has contempt for them that would chill you if you knew her real, private thoughts.

She hates them because they are an unforgiving mirror reflecting her own abject moral failure and gross material corruption.

Seeing Jen’s gross, transparently predatory sell-job, all the sickly sweet smiling, all the performance of it all, is so unsettling. I can’t believe I once listened to this woman. Knowing that makes me second guess my own discernment, I’m not going to lie. Selling a MeCourse on Easter!

This is why I find all of her “church trauma” word salad to be completely disingenuous. ANC was built from the ground up by the Hatmakers. They decided on the church’s “beliefs” and no one else (as several former members have pointed out on this thread). Jen had no problem with this church and regularly shouted its praises.
Until her divorce.

Her husband, who was not the senior pastor at the time, cheated on her and they split. Suddenly, Sis declared she couldn’t “do church”. It was too traumatic. Why? Because it was the church they built together and now she was sad.
That’s not church hurt. That’s not “trauma from religious systems”. Religious hierarchies are not to blame.
Her husband cheated, and that sucks. “THE Church” had nothing to do with it.

Also, selling a “destruct your faith” course on Easter Sunday is GROSS.

I'm surprised she is letting her true self show so much. You would think if she still wants victim sympathy over her marriage, she would play the role of the Jen people fell for-humble, funny, thought provoking, loving. Seeing this manipulative and self-important/obsessed and even entitled side, you wonder how she managed to be married for so long.

A lot of people don't have the character to endure fame.

Just a little fame, money, and acclaim consumed Jen and thoroughly warped her moral compass. It's a cautionary tale as old as time. Now in 2024 she doesn't have the fame anymore, nor the easy money, nor the acclaim but the damage is done.

Religious hierarchies are not to blame

I appreciate the people on the forum pointing out that Jen WAS the hierarchy. None of her followers or friends would dare point out the obvious, that you all see, that she couldn't be happy in a church she built in her own dang image.
In her and Bessey's churches, no one is willing to sacrifice for another. It's everyone unto themselves. Definitely not for Jesus, although they give Him plenty of lip service.
How can they love Him so much but hate His bride? I feel they (Hatmaker, Bolz-Weber, Howerton, Wright) go out of their way to malign the church and make themselves look so holy and "right" and loving.

Agreed with the above and the shelling on Easter was a cheap shot for sure.

On another note, I haven't exactly been a Tyler fan. Or rather, Tyler is okay, but I haven't been a fan of the way he seems to treat Jen. It's all seemed very one-sided to the point where I've really questioned if it was a legit relationship or not.

But if this latest trip to the woods in New York is any indication of his commitment, I'm honestly kind of impressed. Who wouldn't want a chill weekend in the woods to decompress after the craziness of a family wedding and then a swanky night out in NYC to cap it off? Maybe they'll work it out after all.

Agreed. Good move on Tyler’s part. Thoughtful and well planned.

You all are assuming she is telling the truth. I personally don’t believe a word she says. Did they go on a trip and stay in a cabin because her boyfriend planned a surprise getaway - or because Jen got a deal for promoting the cabin online (linked in her post!), and she wants us to think her boyfriend actually likes her…..
