Taylor Swift album Tortured Poets Department leaked early?

Love the album! LOVE. Taylor might not be perfect, but she is pretty darn talented and hard working.
My other takeaway is that Matt the muse must be an incomparable sex god. Good for her!

I'm not going to go do your homework for you, but no one phrased it that way. There's just an ongoing discussion about Swift's lyrical prowess. I don't think anyone is even arguing that she isn't a great lyricist, but there ARE a few people arguing that she has no contemporaries. Or that her music and lyrics are as poetically virtuosic as, you know, actual poets or even some extremely gifted contemporary lyricists working in genres other than pop.

At some point someone said that it's likely a lot of Swift's most fervent fans don't have a lot of exposure to other great lyricists or writers, because most of Swift's biggest fans probably most listen to pop music. Which leads to some hyperbole about Swift's abilities. I can't remember if it was this thread or another one, but early on someone said she was going to win a Nobel Prize for Literature, like Bob Dylan. That's the kind of hyperbole people are referring to.

It could also mean he's emotionally manipulative (even unintentionally so). The two times in my life when I've felt the way Taylor writes about feeling on this album, it was the result of relationships where the other person made me the center of their universe, love bombed me and built up our love into something really grandiose, and then abruptly withdrew their love and validation of me not long after I'd made myself feel dependent on it. Some people call this narcissism, I don't know if it is, but that's the only time I've been this messed up over a breakup. Just dating a guy who was really, really good in bed and then breaking up would be a bummer but it wouldn't result in this level of melt down for most people, I don't think. You can have good sex with more than one person. It's the person who makes you feel like you are one another's one true love, this is where I belong, and then becomes indifferent to you -- that's the killer.

I love when people confuse "disagreeing" with "being defensive." It's called an argument. No one is telling you that you can't enjoy Swift's music or her lyrics. They are simply pointing out she's not the only person who writes well. Sheesh.

All lyrics are poems. They're just set to music.
And who cares if someone thinks she might win a Nobel Prize for Literature. That's their opinion; the poems she wrote (that happened to be set to music) spoke to that person enough to think that. Isn't that what poems and literature and art and music are supposed to do at the end of the day? Have an effect on people and be enjoyed by the reader/listener? Mission accomplished then.

Except nobody said she was the only one. It’s just the pedants droning about what crap they prefer.

Sheesh = the utter definition of defensive. Perhaps the word overreact might be better for you? At the end of day, you're simply "defending" your arguments, right? Hence, being "defensive."
Others pointed out no one said that. That's also being defensive. It's not a four-letter word.

Exactly and it’s in a thread about her and her music. If people don’t like her or her music, why can’t they just skip the thread?

But they have to be right! They will not stop until everyone is bludgeoned into submission.

Maybe she puts words in her songs so you think it’s about an ex. She’s old enough now to know better than to disparage someone’s reputation. And knowing her fans, they could end up hurting the ex. She needs to stop.

The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived will be another all too well. Fans are going to love to rage sing this at her concerts.

It’s so annoying how some of us want to actually discuss the music and some of you are just hung up on the “failed relationships.”

Seriously!! I’m trying to imagine spending days in the thread of an artist I don’t like arguing with all the people who do. Ok you don’t like her… on with your life. I don’t care at all if people dislike her music or her but I do dislike when they feel that means they should come argue and harangue people who do.

what was going on all summer?

drama with mutual friends, cryptic back and forths on social media (IG stories so they don't last), she removed about you in mid July from her pre show set list, he had a complete breakdown in Malaysia on stage and then a worse one on stage in Hawaii after a weird lollapaloza set, he wore the same clothes for 2 shows in a row while also traveling in them. checking his phone (??) while performing. again hooking up wiht the woman he was hookign up wiht while 'working at teh studio' in Feb 23. she was crying in a car after performing in Detroit....they may have gotten back together briefly, it is believed he was supposed to be at her LA shows and didn't show. that's when it went very bad ending with a weird pap walk in September when he looked bizarre ("where's that guy"-- literally what were were all saying, where did Matty go? bc he looked like a strung out rock star on a bender with new girl, while Taylor literally was walking in a circle with jack's wife a few blocks away, same day). its weird what you can glean from social media these days.

This is interesting and I would like to subscribe to your newsletter.
