As someone said if Wilson, good students at Banneker don’t need to be NMSF to get into top colleges.

This is just not true. Especially considering the admissions advantage that being AA offers (which I agree with), Banneker's admissions results are surprisingly mediocre.

Have you read about undermatching in higher education? It's a real phenomena at Title 1 schools. Even highly qualified students do not apply to the schools that match their skills for a host of reasons.

A test doesn’t become racist simply because black students perform poorly on it.

Unfortunately, even the kids of highly educated and/or affluent parents are not immune the message that society keeps sending their way -- that they are unlikely to do well on standardized tests because black kids score lower than white kids. So it becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy. Yet, studies have been done with black college students who, when told beforehand that AA students score especially well on the test the will be given, do much better than AA students who aren't given that message before they take the same test.

Not all charters pay for it.

Well then they don't file the paperwork with OSSE to get the money they are entitled to for this purpose.

Seriously what's the point?
PSAT scores will not get you into college. SAT and ACT do.

Racist test, country, city. Just deal. Prepare, work, sacrifice, make the grade. Am AA and English isn't my first language. Grew up FARMs and attended elite college. Stop whining and excusing, regardless of your race. Grow up already.

Because NMSs get scholarships. Thoss sponsored by corporations can get up to $10K per year.

Why were there 36 semifinalists last year and 55 this year? Did a lot more DC students take the PSAT this year? Was there a big tie at the cutoff score?

The SAT, and consequently the PSAT, was redesigned so it could be used as a Common Core high school test (a PARCC alternative) in states that were looking to consolidate testing.

So the PSAT the class of 2018 took as juniors was a new test. It makes sense that the number of semifinalists went back to where it typically is in year 2 of that exam.

Yes. Even given that phenomena, Banneker's results are mediocre. Also, Banneker should be fighting that battle.

So you are saying blacks are underachieving because SAT is racist? Really? Or because the are leasy and the do not want to study?

Maybe you should brush up on the English language before you decide to defame the “blacks.”
